Yes, please.
I think finally getting mouse and keyboard support will make a lot of people realize just how slow Halo is. The entire game was designed assuming you will need entire seconds just to point your gun at a target, and the jumping was reduced to moon-gravity speed so you have time to move your thumb off the joystick, move it down to the face buttons, push the jump button, move it back to the stick, and still make the jump properly. Weapons like the assault rifle will become even more useless and the pistol and sniper rifle will be even more overpowered. I suppose it will still be an allright game, but with long range weapons given such an over-emphasis, I imagine it will just be like a simplified, sci-fi themed, tactical shooter with shields causing a redundancy in everything, instead of the action deathmatch extravaganza it was on Xbox. It all comes down to personal taste, but Halo will not be the same game taken out of the context of console FPS's.

I finally got this stupid game to work! I have to run it in compatibility mode (windows 98) so that it actually runs, otherwise it stops and says "enable hardware accelleration blah blah blah". Unforunately, in this mode, none of the text appears in multiplayer, MP being the only reason i got this game anyway!

Anywho, just so i know i didn't get bored playing single player, i started the game on Legendary mode. The pistol refuses to zoom when i press the zoom key, no matter what key i set it to, it instead zooms when it feels like, usually in the most inconvenient situation. The assault rifle's conefire appears to be equivalent to a spraypaint can, I think that is due to the difficulty setting, but it only enforces the "run-'n-gun" gameplay.

The character's scripts are a little juvenile, as well as the plot (so far), but the one thing i love about this game, THE AI! I tried sneaking around to attack the AI, but when they saw where i was going, they had already all turned around and prepared to fire on me. Other little situations like this make me love the AI, and continue to play this odd game.

I'm 99% sure the assault rifle accuracy doesn't change as per difficulty level... it's just not a very good weapon. Even when you fire in short bursts it's no more accurate than a full-on spray, and in fact, I've found it's more accurate aiming with an outside edge of the crosshair rather than the center (unless your target is close enough that he fills the entire circle). It's more like a killer flashlight than a rifle.

I don't see why people dislike the game so much. The voice acting is great IMO and the "feel" is a solid sci-fi world IMO. As for the hardware, I'm on a 1GHz Tbird (not even an XP model) on a so-so mobo (Asus A7A266 no less), 512MB of PC2100 and a pitiful GeForce4MX 440 (64/DDR). I run the game at 1023x768 with everything turned on and still get great frames.

I think people just look at it as "old" because, well, it is :D But it's only because Micro$oft snatched it up before it got to PC players hands, and threw it on that silly thing they call an Xbox (which would have DIED if not for this title).

My favorite part of the AI is the little guys screeching "grenade!!!!" just before their body sails into the air :)

Flying in the demo leaves to be desired. I have Free Lancer and maybe it's just me, maybe the map in the demo is just too small or who knows what. But I find the little craft in the demo to be tiresome at best to fly. It has no z axis which makes it pretty useless as a gunship IMO.

Also, they are planning on releasing coop support in a later patch. This alone will make me buy the game as the wife loves that mode of play. Its about the only way I can get her to play FPS games :D (we STILL play DoomII...and Heretic, and HereticII, Hexen, Duke3D, eh, Sam and SamII, etc etc, you get the point, coop stuff).

Anyway, I personally like the game. But I was also a fan of the Ring World series of books, so maybe that sways my view :) To me the game is like Starship Troopers meets Ring World :D (btw, go read the book, Starship Troopers, it is SO much better than the movie!!!!)

Yeah, the lack of Z-axis in the Banshee is annoying. I prefer the Warthog; I can swat Banshees out of the sky with ease, especially at range where they can't get a good shot with their fuel rod cannon.

I still haven't figured out the alt-fire for the vehicles. But then I haven't done much MP yet. I'll pick up a copy of the full game soon though :) Once they get the coop patch out I'll get another!

well if that's the case..that's really bad. Halo was originally designed for PC's. Infact if my memory serves, the original footage of it was being played/rendered on a (what must be now outdated) Mac.

In fact it was meant to be optimised for the voodoo5 at the time, that's how old it is.

Yeah, it was optimized for Glide, but I think it ran best with the Kyro2, personally. I got better framerates with that than I did with my old Voodoo.
