Ah, now this is a long (not really) story.
Pull up a seat and get comfortable.
I searched and searched for my GF2 Card (all the rage then) and almost every shop was sold out, so I grudgingly went to PC World. I payed £80 for it, even thought it was £70 elsewhere.
It on the box was a GeForce 2 MX400 32 MB
I took it home, _took it out of the bag_ and got everything ready to put it in. At this point, I discovered that I did not have an AGP slot.
I took it back and they told be to get lost because I had taken it out of the bag (yes!). I didn't know my rights then, so didn't demand a refund, so it sat in the box in my closet for a while.
Now, I put it in my new computer, complete with 433Mhz Processor and AGP equipped Mobo, and it registered 16mb RAM. Okay... I checked the manual - it said that the min requirements for the card was a 500Mhz+ processor. Dumb as I was, I thought this was the cause, and left it untill about 4 months later I got the processor.
It was a 1Ghz PIII - Well with in the system requirements.
It still registered (even in the card's bios) as 16MB, so I thought about taking it back.
Now, this was about 6 months later, and lo and behold, the god damn gaurantee had run out, and I had totally lost the reciept.
And thats the story of my Magical graphics card. If I had the reciept (or some other proof of purchase) I would take it back or go to trading standards.
But I don't.
