Got a 2.6 GIg w/hp 1024 ram and 64 nvidia card. I played halo on the x-box (i have it) and i always longed for the mouse keyboard combo. The joystick just didnt cut it.

There's a demo out?

In force, it looks a little grainy, but I got all the settings on high with a resolution on 1024X768 (even with my PC power I know the limits of my video card) and it plays fine. I havent tested it but it seem im getting a 30+ frame rate.

It felt like playing TRIBES2 without a jetpack. The conefire was also annoying; as well at the framerate stutter. I may not have a top-of-the-line system (XP2000+, GF4200@305/525, 768MB RAM) but I don't think the game's pretty enough to warrant 20fps on 800x600 with low detail.

Never played that, I assume a graphic intense game. Ive just been lazy about installing the 256 nvidia card I bought. I always get confused on the AMD cards anyway.Whats a XP2000 run at?. Anyway I might go buy max pain 2 this morning. I loved playing the first one in the first person mod. I think Halo is just a marketing pile of goop. They probably figure as long as the game is there and the factories are producing ,why not do PC (I assume the change was cost effective) and the machines were already producing. Its an economy of scale...just a theory.

The XP2000 runs at (IIRC) 1.67GHz, but the raw GHz speed isn't especially important -- it performs at the approximate level that a T-Bird Athlon would at 2.0GHz.

TRIBES 2 was pretty intensive when it first came out, but I was refering to the movement of the games. In TRIBES 2, every player has a jetpack that, surprise surprise, enables them to fly. Halo feels like TRIBES 2, but without the jetpacks :( It's kind of a "blah" feeling.

I figured thats what you meant about the jet pak. i did invision flying around being more graphically intense, just wasnt sure. How does a 1.6 perfprm at the same speed of a 2.0? Is that just systems structure or is it 1 vs the other in simple component structure?

Yah, I've heard of those Starstorm dets... I've been meaning to give them a try sometime... I just have such bad luck even with WHQL drivers :p

I miss Tribes 2... I really liked that game, but no one I know plays... all the hardcore Tribes 1 players hated it and wouldn't give it a chance. I don't understand why... I bought Tribes 2 because I loved Tribes 1.

Its the usual problem you get with console conversions, ****ty code optimization. Its not worth it on a PC.
I really enjoyed the Xbox version (co-op was great - and incedently (sp) taken out of the PC version).

The demo played so slow on my PC, it was awful. Max Payne slow motion is faster. It was unplayable. I'm glad I have played through it on XBOX.

MUAHAHA

On my CELERON system running at 3.2ghz with 256mb of ddr, and a GF2GTS 32mb card, I play at high detail on everything @ 800x600 and get about 20-30 fps :D
