Defeats the purposes of using it, really. Usually you go into VATS when you want to make sure you hit a headshot, especially if you're going for the sneak critical bonus. Before, whatever range you got 95% hit at is now about 70-80%. This means you have to get closer, which makes you more likely to be seen and attacked, which makes the whole point you went into VATS in the first place completely ****ing null and void. :p

I've got the DLC going. So far no problems, although for some reason the game will "hang" for a few seconds before displaying VATS hit percentages now, sometimes. Didn't do that before.

^^This.

Out of interest how much real money does 800 gamer points cost?

I must admit the DLC did get a bit laggy, including V.A.T.S., but I didn't get any crashes. For me the recent patches seem to have fixed the instability in the engine.

(I hope I haven't spoken too soon).:)

Mr. Burke? Yes. Agreeing to blow up Megaton will get you a suite in Tenpenny Tower. Disagreeing and killing him will get you a house in Megaton, as well as usually get Talon Company Mercs to begin hunting you down.

Actually, Talon Company will come after you when you've reached far enough in the main quest and have a lot of good karma. If you have a lot of evil karma, the Regulators will come after you instead.

Oh **** are you serious, or wrong? I guess I just should have nuked Megaton then. I hate Talon Mercs, especially since i use fast traveling a lot, they just keep on coming, there's no end to their contracts about killing you.

There's really only two ways to never deal with Talon Company:

  • Be a neutral character.
  • Be an evil character.
Howver, being an evil character will cause you to run afoul of the Regulators, as Nines said. You've pretty much started down the path of good if they're attacking you, and once they do they won't stop, even if you become evil (Which I wouldn't recommend due to what I mentioned above; you don't want BOTH Talon Company and Regulators on your ass, do you?)

Thing is, so many quests or things in this game sway your Karma. For example, blowing Megaton up instantly gives you maximum negative Karma, -1000, while saving the town by defusing it gives you +200. Killing very evil creatures and NPCs give you a +100 Karma boost, while killing good creatures gives -25 and good humans, -100. Even simple things like giving Purified Water to the homeless bums gives you +50 Karma. Enslaving people, should you choose to do so when you meet a certain someone, will lower your Karma pretty quickly, too. It's very hard to play a perfectly neutral character, and so you're basically forced into playing evil or good eventually - and once you tip the scales past +250 or -250, either Talon Company or Regulators will come after you.

It's probably better that Talon is on your ass honestly, since truth be told they've got some pretty good weapons and armor. Yeah, it never will end. But you'll be thankful. Talon Merc Armor is a damn good armor to have for a lot of the game... until you get regular combat armor and learn to wear power armor, anyway.

Besides, later on you'll have the option to get the Lawbringer perk, which will make evil characters drop a weightless finger that can be traded to someone for five caps a pop - and there's a LOT more evil characters than good ones. Among their ranks are anyone from Talon Company.

Bought the game last week and have been having a blast, but there is one thing that is ABSOLUTELY killing it for me. I call it the black screen of doom. When I have to load an area, at a completely random time it will just load a black screen. I can hear sound effects, alt tab out, even atl f4, but my desktop is completely black. This just happened to me 2 times in the past 10 minutes and the only way to fix it was to do a hard reboot. Other than that the only other "bug" I encountered was the womens bathroom in Megaton would always lock my game up. I hope another patch is in the works :(

Bethesda has announced three downloadable content packs headed to the 360 version of Fallout 3. The first to be released will be "Operation Anchorage," which allows players to take part in a "military simulation" of the "the liberation of Anchorage, Alaska from its Chinese Communist invaders." Operation Anchorage is scheduled to release in January. In February, Bethesda plans to release "The Pitt," in which players can explore the ruins of Pittsburgh, which have become home to raiders. The last pack to release will be "Broken Steel," in which players join the Brotherhood of Steel in order to "rid the Capital Wasteland of the Enclave remnants once and for all." Broken Steel is scheduled for a March release.

So come on Bethesda, give us "The Pitt" already.

P.S. raise XP points too, I'm maxed out.

Bethesda's next two downloadable PC and Xbox 360 expansions for Fallout 3, previously expected to arrive in February and March, have been delayed by a month.

"The next DLC for Fallout 3, The Pitt, will be out in March," Bethesda marketing VP Pete Hines told GameSpot. "Broken Steel will be out the following month, in April."

You're gonna have to wait a little longer.
