Dude, after seeing so many videos with the shooting of the jewels, I tried that for half the game, ironsights and all, to no avail.

Turns out, you have to "unlock" the shooting of the balls, whether you iron sights or not.
and you do that by just playing through the SP. There's no real challenge, people just grow nuts.

ugh. It's so linear.

I managed to pull it off once in the demo, it's pretty damn random as best I could tell.
