Everything is playing a card.
Just say:
"Oh sure play the 'posting something' card why don't you "

Oh wow posting something; glad you played that card

You know

Card playing is a phrase that refers to the act of bringing an issue into a debate to obfuscate the matter and to demoralize and/or demonize your opponent.

Shut up you guys. I'm sick of your bickering over trivial things like media conglomerates. When we can finally all learn to change ourselves instead of worrying about others, our nation can be proactive again. And, everyone knows the REAL threat is not the oil spill, but the CATASTROPHIC GREASY ENEMA of beloved forum member Morety that he carelessly flushed out of the plane on his vacation in the Caribbean. That's the REAL culprit.

Perhaps it would help if you explained your "W got a free ride" position if you listed several dubya follies that didn't get full-blown media attention?

  • The lead up to the invasion of Iraq.
  • The inept management of the Iraq occupation.
  • The abandonment of the Afghanistan war.
  • The Patriot Act.
  • Tax cuts for his rich buddies with a ballooning deficit.

Some of these item eventually made it to the news, but never was Dubya feet held to fire on them. Never. The media rolled over every time.

  • The lead up to the invasion of Iraq. Are you kidding? This got some serious press and serious discussion amongst the press. What were they supposed to do, physically launch an assault on Dubya?
  • The inept management of the Iraq occupation. What? There were no complaints from the press? Are you for real? We are still hearing about this, only more from the current Administration, but we are still hearing about this "failure."
  • The abandonment of the Afghanistan war.Use of the term "abandonment" is highly subjective here. Care to try again, pumpkin?
  • The Patriot Act. Oh, come on already. Even Fox had numerous panels and discussion on the possible unconstitutionality of portions of the PA.
  • Tax cuts for his rich buddies with a ballooning deficit.Okay, this one takes the cake. At this point, I could care less about what the press have to say about this, because it is false. It ticks me off to no end when people refer to the Bush tax cuts as tax relief ONLY for the rich. Fact is that ALL taxpayers got some relief. The poorer earners netted more tax relief and entitlements while the highest earners actually saw a reduction in their tax relief in the later years of the program. Also, seeing how we have a progressive tax code, and that the top one percent of wage earners pay about a third of all income taxes, the top five cent pay over 50 percent of all income taxes, did you expect the poorest of Americans (who pay little if any income taxes) to reap huge rewards from the tax cuts? Oh, by the way, those tax cuts accounted for about 15 percent of the debt rung up during his two terms. The costs of the Afghan and Iraq wars totaled to less than $850B during Bush's terms in office. The huge bulk remaining in that $6T debt was rung up due to a collapsing economy brought on by 9/11, the housing/financial bubble and a failure by the previous Administration AND Republican led Congress to factor in the increasing costs of SS, Medicare/Medicaid benefits when the alleged surplus was projected.

All criticism was after the fact. During the critical period, early in the occupation, the press played nice and didn't seriously question Dubya's mismanagement.

Is "the reallocation of resources to Iraq thus crippling the efforts in Afghanistan" better for you, Cucumber?

The media rolled over on this like a well trained dog for fear of being cutoff from the Whitehouse, and be labled as unpatriotic terrorist lovers.

Reducing income while debt increases is a moronic move. The press reported it and quickly moved on to Paris Hilton's latest scandal.

Edit:

What were they supposed to do, physically launch an assault on Dubya?
What the media should have done during the Dubya years was to use the Fox/Obama model. And that is to relentlessly attack Dubya on every issue - real or imagined.
