Thanks for the clarification TomWithTheWeather

Yeah, hand-built can always result in something more interesting and retail-worthy. I thought that applying this whole generated concept to Environment would make the game a unique experience each playtrough, and take care of the repetitiveness this game currently offers.

Borderland is really an awesome package, however, it turns out that after my second playtrough I already get bored with the linear construction of the questing system in Arid, and pretty much everywhere else. By linear I recall in one zone, for instance, that you need a quest to activate a bounty board. That just made it even more purposely must-do-that-before-that.

I though borderlands would have a, perhaps, more versatile quest system where each zone would have their own small friendly towns and you could take on/cancel any quests you want, except for accepting the really high/low lvl ones, like WoW. Instead it turned out to be that most quests I ended up doing power-leveled me, leaving most of the rest of the world unexplored with much lower level enemies.

I wanted to go on and explore the whole game, but to do that is to take on quests that are mostly 10 level below me and around. It makes the whole exploration unchallenging.

I truly hope that it will end up being a sequel, and Gearbox find a solution to this so-soon repetitiveness, or that we eventually see a sdk pop up to solve some of the game major concerns.

Thanks for hearing me.

FFS!

Bought the 4-pack, 2 copies sent to Americans. Turns out they can play on Monday & I have to wait until Friday!?!
Because [& get this for a p*ss poor reason] 'If we unlock the digital version on Monday before the physical copies are available for sale it'll be pirated & no one will buy it in Europe'
As if no American has ever uploaded a game to a torrent site

How about they get the sodding discs to the stores beforehand & release globally or just suck it up & stop penalizing honest paying customers.
/rant
DRM is great, ain't it?

Pirates get free reign; paying customers get f**ked.

I played this a bit on xbox split screen with a friend. I can easily see getting bored of this game after the first play through. Randomly generated weapons just don't have much sway over my interest when you have to kill the same crap over and over in the same linear fashion. I was expecting a more open world type game.

I've heard that there's already a cracked version online. So much for preventing 0-day piracy.

Indeed there is. So sad PC gamers have been trying to get this point across to the 'suits' for years, and still no success...

The suits are planning digital distribution only.
Physical copies are on the way out.
There's rumours the next gen of consoles won't even have disc slots.

I love how the assumption is that UK players would just pirate the game instead of buying it through Steam if it wasn't available on store shelves.

EU rather than just us, but given the interwebz are global it's a moot point.
You release it somewhere, it's everywhere within hours regardless so why penalize those of us who've actually paid...

C*nts in suits, etc

Thats why i dont bother with buying high profile games other then Valves own over steam. There is no technical advantage when you cant play it on the day of release which is one of the main fundamentals in doing so.

I don't see it. Maybe it's on some private trackers that aren't indexed by various torrent search sites, but anything I see related to PC has been "buried" with no seeders.

I do think we will start seeing legitimate ones pop up tomorrow, though. :p

Although, several of the posts in this thread have me worried. I don't know why I bothered pre-ordering this game; guess I put my faith into a company that I had no reason to trust for reasons of stupidity. I guess our consumer society is rubbing off on me. D:

Let's hope I don't ADD the sh*t out of this game like I have so many others. I keep wasting money on video games I don't play. :[

I only bought it this way because it was cheaper & I foolishly assumed we'd all get to play at the same time.

I figured I'd check it out, so I downloaded the american version and fiddled a bit around in singleplayer. It seems really good, but I'll have to restrain myself and wait until the 30th, so I can play with my friends. We already bought the 4-pack over Steam, so I would feel kinda bad if I was like level 15 when they are level 1 :(

edit: oh and

[HMTMTG]Destiny Hope Cyrus
[HMTMTG]Miley Ray Cyrus
[HMTMTG]Lilly Truscott
[HMTMTG]Lola Lufnagle

Dieee smug, dieee

edit2: about the entire piracy deal, it's actually nice to see a big and respected developer simply say "screw the pirates" and hardly include any anti-piracy in the product. A serial key wouldn't have hurt though, but I guess they either believe in the community, or they simply think that the console sales will make up for any significant lost capital on the PC.
