well it sounded like he was talking about the way that, by their own design and necessity, cooperative games cannot maintain an immersive atmosphere compared to that of singeplayer.
I mean, regardless of how it is worked into the system, having 2 simultaneous human players eventually breaks the willing suspension of disbelief. because at some point you guys will end up talking about the movie you saw last week or some sh*t.

sometimes when you play a singeplayer game, the experience is not dissimilar from that of a person who becomes deeply engrossed in reading a fictional book. their imagination takes hold and they can feel like they're in that story/setting, they become part of the game.
this isn't possible with multiplayer games, not in the way that is possible with solitary singeplayer games.
