well I'm not going to disagree with you.
a lot of PC gaming is going the way of console ports and the consolidation of online communities is unsettling.
otherwise, I maintain that the state of PC gaming isn't really any better or worse than it was 10 years ago. it's always been a niche of sorts, but there are causal PC gamers. it's not all or nothing being that you either use a PC for work or gaming, they're not mutually exclusive.
the problem again, I think, is that this stuff only hurts the mainstream PC market. the COD's, the GoW's, and the MMO's; the kind of games that generate large numbers of online play. those are the people who I hear the most complaining from.
I don't see the problem affecting PC gamers who enjoy singleplayer/offline and/or non-mainstream titles like adventure, puzzle, RPG, simulation, etc type games.
I'm holding out hope.
I think some of the talk about PC gaming coming to a demise are premature.
