Walmart wouldn't let me automatically cancel my pre-order but I sent them a message claiming that I should be allowed since it is, in fact, a pre-order. I don't want to get the game if the multiplayer is going to f**ked up. Maybe it won't be so bad and everyone's overreacting... but maybe they're not. D:

I do believe it is time for me to get a PS3. I'm tired of dealing with companies pissing on PC gamers. I guess they win; I might have to assimilate now.

I bet part of the reason we're being going to be forced to use that MW.net crap is to make use of their new host migration feature.

I thought that was actually a cool feature for console players... before it was evident PC owners were going to be forced to make use of it too.

So as it stands now I'm going to be getting Bad Company 2 instead, unless that gets gimped to hell and back too.

I'm definitely going to wait and see with MW2 on how people are doing in MP before/if I buy. I can't see people like me with ****ty upload speeds (and locked ports) getting good MP games going.

I don't get why companies keep messing with stuff that people never complain about? Can't remember anyone ever complaining about finding games on MW because of dedicated servers.
Even a game like Battlefield Heroes made to be as easy to play as possible and for the really casual gamer - even allowed dedi servers after a while...

Considering the price I would have paid for MW2, getting it just for single player is a little hefty.
Would almost make it 10 € per hour of campaign. (Last I heard MW2 SP will be between 6 and 8 hours, which usually means the former)
I mean, I'm not ruling out getting MW2 altogether but I will definitely be waiting to see how the MP fairs.
If it goes the way it seems to be heading then the earliest I will be getting MW2 is when it hits the bargain bins.

Yeah i know how you feel, they really are doing everything possible to kill PC gaming thease days, i'm not quite ready to waste money on a Console just yet (i say "waste" because i know my PC can do anything a Console can, and more, if only the software and games where made for it), but damn, they can only rape the PC so much longer before i'll have to call it quits too :(

I would be mad but I already made the desision to buy this for PS3 months ago instead of PC. yay

So, what you're saying is, you made a conscious choice to have laggy listen servers and lack of mods? Not sure what you're yay-ing about...

OT: IW just lost my sale. I was already sceptical about the game. Not because of the game itself, but because of it's ginormous hype and community. People would buy multiple copies of this game even if there was nothing on the disk besides a picture of the devs flipping the bird at us.

That fact leads me to believe that the pressure is entirely off IW. They know they will have success, no matter how crappy or good their game is.
News like this just sealed the deal.

And for once, people, please. Every time a games company does something that screws us over, people declare war and boycotts and whatnot, then when the times comes, 90% still buys the game on day one.

Activision and IW do not need the money. Pirate the ****ing game for it's SP campaign, if you must. Let's see them serve their customers before their wallets.

Bad news, fellas. We're getting screwed again.

No dedicated servers. No mods. All games through this thing they're calling IW.net.

This can't be ****ing real. Step back, step back.
People will be Torrenting this ****.

They said to have increased the price on PC - so we get even less. Awesome deal!

AT LEAST they use VAC! Holy ****! Nice.

... That's probably the only good thing...

You are an idiot.

They are doing away with dedicated servers, thereby forcing all the games onto THEIR OWN servers and you claim it's a play for money? That is the opposite of sense. You don't have to agree with what they're trying to do with the multiplayer servers, but to say they're just making a play for money is just flat out stupid.

If you don't want to give them your money, don't buy the game. If you think that the game is worth playing, then pay up. You're all: Damn Infinity Ward for consistently making great games. How DARE they try and establish multiplayer the way they want. STEAL FROM THEM FOR DISAGREEING WITH ME. KILL THEM ALLLL BLAAARGH.

Okay, you didn't say the very last bit, but you did say the others.

Let me reiterate: you are an idiot, hosting their own servers is not a grab for money and just don't buy the game if you don't want it.

I think you guys are overreacting a little.

I mean I've heard someone complain about the death of PC gaming every year now for about 6-7 years. hell, I've said it myself but in more of a snide tone, I don't necessarily believe PC gaming is anywhere near its death throws.
these protective measures are only hurting the popular attraction of the PC platform. they're not hurting the viability of the industry itself, at least not yet. if anything, it's turning off some longtime PC fanboi's, the kind that visit forums and discuss it like we are because we have witnessed the changes firsthand. but I don't think it's turning off anyone who already wasn't a diehard PC gamer.

I think the average PC user (person who doesn't pay attention to all this stuff) is not even really aware that this crap is going on.

I consider myself a PC diehard, but I've always balanced that with one console each generation.
sh*t, I recommend everyone get a PS3 anyway because it's like getting a free blu-ray player.

Yes they have dedicated servers still, through this IWNet crap. However it's killing off Dedicated servers for clans and from GSPs. Meaning IW will be the ones in control of all the server base.

There won't be any way for the community to keep the game alive through some good servers, it will be matchmaking mean you won't have a choice where you play and the chances you end up with some smart-ass retards pissing every game up.

Which is just like it is on consoles. Which is what people are hating.

Actually, I didn't say any of that.

What I said is that people, for once, should stick with their boycotts instead of tough words and then buying the game on day one anyway. Hell, if they're so attached to CoD that they can't muster this, let them torrent the game.
I'm not getting it anymore either way.

I never mentioned a play for money. I stated IW/A doesn't need the money so boycotting MW2 is not going to make IW or Activision tank, the way it would affect a smaller developer/publisher, thereby countering one of the valid criticisms of a boycott. This means they might actually learn something if the PC crowd abandoned them, instead of just going bankrupt. We might see some improvements in the next game.

Let me reiterate: you read stuff into my post that I didn't say, and added a few nice insults to spice your post up.

I hear ya, but I pretty much did the same thing for CoD4. A friend told me to buy it so we could play multiplayer and that lasted for like 2 weeks or something, only made it to lvl 11 before throwing up a little. I feel MW2's multiplayer will be somewhat the same, maybe a tad bit better in some areas. We will see.

It's pretty easy to argue that the people who game on PCs are diehards. I don't know anyone who "casually" games on PC. It's too much work. And by "games" I mean keeps his system up to date and plays online rather than some random asshole playing Bejeweled on their laptop. To most people a PC is a work-Facebook-porn machine.

It's also easy to argue that PC gaming is dead/dying because most companies are no longer offering a PC experience. It's console ports all the way down. MW2 is the culmination of what's been happening steadily for years. They took our unique gameplay elements, they dumbed down the experience, and now they're taking control of our multiplayer. And all for more money!
