Why do sound cards piss me off?

Ugh. I wasn't talking about your card in particular. I'm talking about consumer goods in general. It's tough to find quality hardware anymore. All companies care about are their profit margins.
"Gee. That's an easy one Hadmar." I don't get it. What has your rant about todays business/production of matures-at-the-user goods to do with me deciding to get an Audigy instead of using onboard sound?

Personally, 7.1 isn't enough. I'm looking for something that gives me 15.3, so I can have an explosion of sound around me while I play. Is there anything that can supply me such a great sound?

I'm sure they could make something with 15.3 (I suppose that's 15 channels with 3 subwoofers - all independent) but the question is why? I doubt even in movie theaters, OMNIMAX etc have that many independent channels, I'm fairly certain most of those channels are outputting the same thing. What would be interesting to know if games could utilize that, my guess is not, but hey you never know. Otherwise what’s the point of 7.1, nothing I know of uses it.

The main reason I'd buy a Audigy 2 is for the 24bit sound decoding, so my HDCDs sound nicer :D

15.3 is children toys, Keg. What you need is a self surround system. You take one speaker, grab it by the cord and swing it in a circle motion around your head. Sound from every direction is unbeatable.
