I've dl'd v0.5 & v0.6 but both of these cause my game to crash, I'd say 4 out of 5 attempts. I've even tried this with no other mutators active but still can't get past the loading screen.
Consequently I've gone back to v0.4 but I'm finding more server now where I have a mismatch of the UTcompass.
Has anybody else experienced this or have any ideas what's going on?

Thanks

I have never had a release version of UTCompass crash neither server nor client during testing, so initially I have absolutely no clue what the problem is. But if this is the case I would really appreciate if you'd give me some more details about it. Are you getting any error messages, or does the game just freeze up? And what'd really be useful would be posting (or e-mailing me) your Infiltration.log file after a crash.

I could install v0.5, I think I still have the download file somewhere and try again.
When it crashes tho, it locks up my entire PC, it doesn't just crash the game. I have to reboot the PC to get going again. Would there be any useful information left after the reboot?

It's bizarre that only when I have this mutator active does my system crash.
I get to the loading screen and it freezes. I have left the PC for the best part of an hour but it never fixes itself?
I'm back at my main PC tomorrow so will try again and see if I can get any info for you.
Olethros; can you tell me exactly what you want & where to get it from?

What I need you to do immediately after a crash (and reboot, if applicable) is to go to your UnrealTournament\System directory and find the file "Infiltration.log" Zip/Rar/Ace it and attach it to a post in this thread/PM/e-mail and I'll check it out.

You could also try running the UTCompass mutator in vanilla UT and see if that works better. The log file from a normal UT game will - unsurprisingly - be called "UnrealTournament.log"

And I have found a bug in v0.7 that might cause trouble if there are other HUD mutators than UTCompass running, but it shouldn't be nearly serious enough to crash the game, and much less the entire system. I'll get an update out when I get the time; easter is coming up, so work will be a bitch this week. Even more so than usual!

I have verified that the crash clients were seeing was NOT related to the UTCompass .7 version.

That said, I am seeing that the compass will not show up on the DTAS server. As you said above, this could be due to the HUD mutator used for the XM8 weapon add.

UTCompass v0.7b has been uploaded to you-know-where. Fixed the potential multiple HUD mutators problem (I think).

The DukeAddHUD is really a HUD replacement mutator, so it shouldn't have any effect on UTCompass at all. I've tested it online with RD and DTAS active and found no particular problems that I can't blame on DTAS anyway.

v0.8 released!

It's been a while, but here's finally a release version of UTCompass v0.8: Link 1 link 2.

New stuff here:
  • Better Assault support. (In vanilla UT, not INF's EAS, unfortunately.)
  • Some more configurable variables. (Text positions and so on.)
  • Plug-in support. Waypoints can be controlled by 3d-party plug-in classes.
  • Auxiliary 'HUDMutate' command - clients can call their HUD mutators' 'mutate' commands online.
  • Probably some more stuff I've forgotten about.
