You don't need the engine source to replicate the gameplay, especially when the gameplay source is widely available.
Why not, actually? It would be quite the killer to have some form of "Black Mesa" UT99, wouldn't it? And there's quite some power in the community, let alone crowd-sourcing! Thing missing would be the source code of the Unreal Engine.
LoL..you get to see sweeney rubbing his balls, now that's one thing i'd rather not see.All I ever wanted was for Onslaught and 2k4 to look prettier. Not the craptasticness they came out with in III.
The series is better left dead. Otherwise, UT4 will look like this:
1. More craptastic auto server filling
2. You would have to buy new characters as opposed to all of them being available in the begging.
3. A pair of boots to help you run faster costs $15
4. Spend more moniez and make your raptor ubber faster
5. We now have 2 orbs. Rub them together and you get to see Sweeney rubbing his own ballz.
Also another smart thing Epic did was give vehicles armor, everything except light vehicles (Manta/Viper) only take 80% of weapon damage to compensate for their massive hitboxes. The only things I don't like about UT3 vehicles is the Cicada is really poorly designed and the Hellbender rear turret does 150 fully charged instead of 200 and there's not visual indication of when its fully charged. Other than that the vehicles are all really well made, even the "basketball gun" Scorpion is a lot better than the fuck all useless Scorpion in UT2k4 with its worthless low damage Plasma nets.
Early OnyxCoast was much bigger. For some unfortunate reasons it was really shrinked down (performance issues?). You can get the sense of its size by looking at initial concept art and some video footage.Early vidyas of Onyx coast made it look like a very large level, then it turned into a tiny map.
