UT3 Patch 2 Beta 1 Enters Private Testing

Two Factor Authentication is now available on BeyondUnreal Forums. To configure it, visit your Profile and look for the "Two Step Verification" option on the left side. We can send codes via email (may be slower) or you can set up any TOTP Authenticator app on your phone (Authy, Google Authenticator, etc) to deliver codes. It is highly recommended that you configure this to keep your account safe.
I'd like to try this patch out before I give UT3 away and buy COD4. (that or just play UT2k4) This will be the last straw for me, although I doubt it will fix the feeling of every weapon being 'off' compared to any other FPS I play...

Although I thought that humans always shot players that pretended to be dead as well it is nice to see that we can trick a few bots as well now.
Did anyone see what the 'improved' voice-menu that's supposed to be in this patch is like ?
that's what i'm asking myself - when you feign death you still carry your gun and usually when fragged you drop it AND there's a death message - so who is gonna be fooled by it? can only be some noobs to the game imo.
oh, i need more info on the voice menu as well! i want the bots to shut up

Seriously some of you guys expecting miracles, perhaps you just dont like the game. I know thats kewl by me but thinking a patch is going to change your preference is just wierd. If you are thinking about getting rid of UT3 now I dont see why you just wouldnt, or perhaps you know there is more to it than you let on, pressure pressure pressure...
Well those are the true fans clinging on to a thread of hope. Alas it will be in vain. It kind of makes me sad seeing players like that who probably played through UT 99 and 2004 and are so desperately trying to like UT 3.
I find it hilarious the way people think patches will turn the game around or "bring in more players". It won't.
At most - as you can quite clearly see by this patch - the patches will fix minor bugs here and there, but the game will stay the same.
Epic won't invest time in making major changes to this game. They've counted their losses on the PC side of things and have moved on.
You would only see notetable change in the game if the console market required it somehow.
Well the game will keep selling on PC I would hope, some people might pick it up after opting out after the state of the demo even if they liked the game. Holding onto the game though if you dont like it is only hurting the community unless you are making content for UT3, see it could be given or sold to someone who would actually play it. I think thats important here, you can bitch about the game all you want even after paying for it but its not going to do anything.
Id rather see people who enjoy the game taking it online and playing it, patch or not because I agree the patches arnt going to dramatically change the game. If you think they do or will then perhaps your reasons for not liking it in the first place are unfounded.
For the record, Ive played through UT99 and UT2004, I enjoy UT3 both off and online. I recognize its not perfect even irritating at times but Im not going to sit here and expect everything to be fixed over 1-2 months acouple of weeks of which is a holiday for most people. I think the patches specifically this one could bring more servers perhaps higher quality ones ran by people who know wtf they are doing and how to setup a match of UT, player counts for me arnt a huge issue. Ive joined empty servers and within 5 minutes Ive had 2/3 players to play against even more, heatray TDM seemed to draw the crowd theres a DM server here which is 24/7 listed and almost always has humans playing in it. For a small country such as Australia UT3 aint going so bad, I rekon it'll just take some time for people to upgrade, purchase and get into UT3
Perhaps other countries are seeing dips in player counts because theyre more console orientated or have more dual gamers who opt for the console player counts, which only makes the situation worse btw.

The patch does have many substantial improvements in it- The only way this wont change your feelings about the game is if you don't already like the actual gameplay, because that was good from the get-go. If you didnt enjoy playing before, you wont enjoy it now. If you enjoyed it but spent all your time bitching on the forums about how bug-ridden it is, this should satisfy you.

I hope so. I keep getting errors when it loads custom content. Would like to try the new patch.
