UT3 Patch 2.0 Beta 3 Released To Testers

  • Two Factor Authentication is now available on BeyondUnreal Forums. To configure it, visit your Profile and look for the "Two Step Verification" option on the left side. We can send codes via email (may be slower) or you can set up any TOTP Authenticator app on your phone (Authy, Google Authenticator, etc) to deliver codes. Something really jumps out for me. I haven't tried Beta 3 yet, so I am asking if it is fixed:

Does anybody know if the huge, annoying signs over your opponents heads' that got introduced with Patch 2.0 are made optional now.
They really put me off playing and I haven't found anything to remove them.

Put you off playing? You're joking right..?

Anyway, this might be of interest to you people who think this way.. dunno if it solves your whole problem but I noticed that this was new. There is a file called UTTalkingIcon.ini, and inside it are the following options:

bDisableMyTalkIcon=False
bDisableTalkIcons=False
bCustomTalkTextures=False
CustomTalkTexture=
CustomTalkTextureRed=
CustomTalkTextureBlue=

So not only can you disable the icons over player's heads (at least the ones for talk), you can create your own custom textures for them too.

Personally, I don't see why anyone would want to disable them, they're pretty handy. As for the player names, I think they were overkill in the first beta, but I don't see how they would turn anyone off playing.. hmm, need to fire it up and see how it looks now.

Those name tags were significantly improved with the patch, anyway. They're much less obnoxiously huge, and they temporarily adjust in size to show the talking icon and vehicle health if you're close enough.

translocator health is still only 2hp. maybe increase it like it is in 2k3/2k4/ut99 ?

Can anyone tell me if they have fixed these 3 things

Not getting stuck on a lift
Rockets exploading on people but not actually doing damage
Redeemer doing no damage to anyone

2. Not sure - may be netcode related
3. There was a Redeemer fix. They said the core of the blast was going into the wall or some such thing...

You might just browse through the changelists and see.

There is also rare stuck lift bug, with the mover obviously getting stuck in a way, happened to me few time sin carbonfire....also I would like to know if they fixed these bugs if there is FPS drop, with the linkgun altfire sound being stuck on gun or the pickup, with bots too.

I suspect that..

"rockets exploding but doing no damage"
"avril doing 0 damage"
"shock rifle fees wrong, unresponsive"
"sniper feels inaccurate"

etc are all just symptoms of the same thing, and that is the pawn position updating.. this is something which has been addressed in patch 2.0 and once everyone is playing on 2.0 servers, we'll be able to tell for sure.. so reserve your judgement until then.. and if you want to make sure you only play on 2.0 servers and not buggy 1.3 ever again, play the Steam version of 2.0, since that is not compatible with 1.3 servers at all.

Noticed very recently that you can't set the xloc weapon priority through the game menu in version 1.3. It would be nice to have this feature added.
