UT3 AI Mods

Considering the community for this game is so dead, and the only existing community is content with playing the same three maps over and over again, I have to look to bots to play my custom maps.

Problem is, there isn't a happy medium. Godlike bots are challenging but way too accurate with the Minigun and Link alt fire. The bots can't play VCTF very well either as they don't understand how to do Manta/Viper runs and such (well they do for an extent, but its really hard to do).

Are there any AI mods for UT3? One that would be really cool would be a randomizer: it would randomize a bot's stats instead of just all being godlike or whatever, so you'd get a mixture of different types of bots.

Can anyone help a brother out?

Mapmixer has a feature that lets you alter the base stats of the individual bots, but I don't know if it can randomize them.

MapMixer will allow you to set the Bot skill levels on a map-to-map basis. For example, you could have them set to Adept for War-Torlan and then you could have them set to Masterful for DM-Deck.

The only thing that really is UI friendly is Mapmixer. You can do the ini tweaks but map mixer makes it how it should have been. Yet it still lack a very few of the things UT2004 had, but it's no big big deal.

Nope, the bots accuracy against human players won't change. Especially, with link-gun alt-fire. They'll still be able to auto-lock on to you and penetrate walls and other geometry -- thereby illustrating the f*cked-up scripting that plagues this game.

I'm wondering if bots can still shoot invisible bullets to open secret passages, just like they did in UT1.

This could be doable I guess, via uscript. I suppose we'd need the boycotting, and people to do it (coders).

Tweaking the AI to play with UT3's architecture.

Does MapMixer (or anything else) let you rename bots like you could in UT99? I really miss being able to individually name and customize bots :<

don't think so... i've never understood the point behind that and Ive played all the UT games offline for quite a long time.

What the heck!? That's one of the best things ever about UT that I wish they continued into the other games. I have some bots added for UT2003 and UT2004, but I haven't even tried it for UT3 because it seems like with every release of the UT series they make it harder to do when they really should continue the same functionality across all the games.

For UT, I still have voices and skins assigned to my bots and I've changed their names slightly. The secret is to make all your changes and don't make anymore and keep playing and your NGstats should turn out great.:)

I did that once, I took the stinger and link out, replaced them with rox while keeping the other weapons in and I ended up going godlike on a Godlike bot in in 10 minutes. :c

Well, most of what the reaper bot could do was in Unreal. I think they've just tried to make the bot AI too "universal" with accuracy and skill and whatever instead of just making them act human.

I think the UT3 bots are better than previous UTs as far as acting human in most cases, but they are still incredibly dumb most of the time.
