Which was a replacement for the only-good-in-SP Stinger in MP games.

It was good in MP (had increased damage even in DM, as with other weapons in Unreal through script) together with DP in beta or release versions. It was really kickass weapon, kinda like UT3 stinger....too bad they screwed it up later.

It was a bitch to hit opponents with it, though. I missed them 75% of all the time.

I never found it good in SP... Except for taking out Tentacles or other static pawns (hint: brutes :D )

You should have used it more. It's stupidly strong, especially against Krall, Slith and to make up good damage on the Titans.

In beta it is not hard to hit bots with it actually, maybe beacuse the projectile is faster or something.

It seems that, at least in UT2004, the most human-like bots are Masterful. Anything higher cheats, anything lower are dumb.

It's almost the same in UT3, Adept bots don't seem to have damage scaling. For the most part they don't have godly accuracy, There are of course a few exceptions (I was flying a redeemer and a bot shot it with the goliath cannon).

But above there the damage scaling takes effect, you may also notice the minigun and enforcer don't have accuracy decay on top of them being perfect shots.

The end result is that you get AI that is either too dumb and does less damage than a player does, or AI that is too unrealistic in terms of accuracy and damage.
