I can not get the 1998 demo to work. It will not finish the install it has a currept texture file. Im d/ling it again right now and will try it again later.
Is anyone else having the same problum??

Quite simply - either the download got cut off (it is smaller than it should be, correct size: 185357452 bytes) or you got some nasty antivirus / other interrupting software running. Close as many needless processes as you can before running the installer if it is correct size.

Well i got it to work this time

The only weard thing is the first one i downloaded was
named UnrealBET97.exe and the second one i downloaded was named UnrealBET.exe

EPIC called them BETA's because...

they are not at fault if YOU install them and your system buggers up, that is the patches.
Thats what 209 is about.

V200 is NOT beta, (but may as well, since.. you know....do I need to go back to 1998 and all the threads about it...;D)

no i have no beta but i have a (i think) rare version of unreal 1
version number 223m look for atachement for downloading.
