Unreal beta the begining

What version did the original unreal ship at?

It first shipped at v200, in North America; European versions shipped in the v200-v209 range..

Sorry to bump an old thread, but I think I might have what you guys are looking for:

There a four maps in which you can walk around, I haven't fully explored them, but I think there are no models/characters in there.

I can and would like to host it, but I have to be sure it's legal. I don't want to get in any trouble.

I have some releases of Unreal mirrored on FileFront. These are:

The 1998 beta - right here.

The 1995 alpha - right here.

In the '98 beta release - I renamed all DM maps to start from "DM-", just for clarity. I also included three updated maps from Hyper's site - the original ones just did not work. The password is given in the install program - my experience tells me you just need to type it ONCE only.

In the '95 alpha release - I rearranged all the files so that BAT files became useless. Everything is much more clear now.

DP Sez: To clarify, the "1997 Alpha" as he put it is NOT the 1997 Alpha, it's the 1998 Beta that surfaced somewhat recently.

Hmmm... I found the 1995 version somewhere on the net. Really, the orig features the bat files instead of my launcher, so it's kinda ugly IMNSHO.

The 1998 version, that i actually BOUGHT on a market, had:

- UnrealEd.exe placed in the wrong folder
- missing ini entry disallowing to launch UnrealEd
- 3 corrupt maps now fixed.
- did I mention crappy control scheme?

You want the originals? Google'em.

Delacroix, I've edited your previous posts because you're misnaming one of those Betas, which could give people a sense of false hope (The 1997 Alpha is the most wanted one, as rumor has it it has stuff like the Dragon.)

Your build is of the 1998 Beta; so I've edited your posts to reflect that. Same thing in another topic on this board.

Hmmmm... I'm naming the beta after it's compilation date not it's leak date. I don't believe the dragon-including beta was leaked. If it was leaked indeed, I'll make an attempt to find it.

EDIT: If at least one man on earth owns the 1996-compiled, 1997-supposedly-leaked beta, please upload it somewhere. We would all be very grateful.

Actually, the "1998 beta" was compiled in early 1998.

OK, I surrender... However a text on the splash screen stated: 1997. That's really confusing, isn't it?

Yeah. It's still a quite good find, regardless; has a lot of levels that were cut, like the infamous Soledad.
