The ones with any blue are practice.

The red one says, "CN" on it, so I'd say that contains CN gas, which is a more potent lacrimator than CS (standard tear gas).

The russians have something even better.. A PUMP ACTION GRENADE LAUNCHER :) Don't have the details within reach ATM but they basically have a big shotgun that fires IIRC 30mm grenades from a tube like a oversized shotgun basically.

Is it possible to shape a caseless round so that it could be chambered in a normal .223 rifle?

For the $1000 I paid for it, it had damn well better be purpose built. :con:

I doubt it. A caseless weapon needs to be customized to the ammunition it's firing and vice versa. Something like an M16 would chew the hell out of a caseless round during the chambering cycle, causing all sorts of problems. Personally I think caseless is an idea whose time hasn't yet come. It's a neat concept, but not particularily well suited to the rigors of battle with current manufacturing techniques.

Just gonna re post this because I think it got lost in page 5, and nobody read it

http://www.army-technology.com/cont...guns/fnherstal/ claims that the 5/7 can have have one round in the chamber and still be safe to walk around with, is that a normal thing to do? And should it be in Inf? (20+1 bullets from the beginning)

Yes. I can't think of a police officer or soldier in the world that would perform their duties without a round chambered, regardless of what they were carrying.

And should it be in Inf? (20+1 bullets from the beginning)
Having a round chambered does not necessarily mean you have one round over and above the stated magazine capacity. It means a round has been stripped from the magazine and is awaiting ignition in the chamber. The ability of a firearm to be carried with a round chambered is obvious, although with some handguns this is a risky practice (1911's, Brownings, any single-action semiautomatic). Normally this means there is one less round in the magazine. Optionally, if you have one extra round you could then eject the magazine, load the extra round, and have a magazine + 1, although no standing force I know of practices this.

I belive thats more an issue of uniform and supply than anything else, when given a magazine fed weapon, you are supplied with magazines with which to feed it, and enough rounds to do so, that means what you carry in youre ammo pouch will add up to what can be held in youre magazines, so inorder to do a magazine+1, you would have to leave out a round for another magazine...no army i know of gives its troops more than they are supposed to carry, army's are tax fed weapons afterall :D

It would probably be more normal to find this practice amongs police officers, as they generally have to buy their own ammo, or atleast are supplied on a more loose basis.

on the chambering 20 + 1 you already can at least you used to be able to with the DE and M9 you just fire all the bullets but one and then load a new mag
I never did it in combat, but I did it all the time on the range.

on the FAMAS in game you hit the attachment button and hear a click; what is that IRL?

hey ive got a question about the foward assist on a M16.... in games like inf and raven shield, everyone just taps the cocking lever when they reload after completely emptying a magazine. then i saw americas army and saw that they push the foward assist. then i got that confirmed by M16 manuals. but then i saw that cmag vid that recon1337 posted up a while ago in the duplex mag thread in the new ver suggestions section and the guy in that just tapped the cocking lever. so may someone tell me - is it necessary to push the foward assist when you reaload an empty m16?

Reason & Logic > Religion
Not necessary (since hitting the bolt catch makes the bolt move forward), the FA is there only to force the bolt fully forward if it doesn't go forward for whatever reason. Tapping it is just to ensure that the bolt is fully forward.

I probably wouldn't bother tapping it in RL at all, and especially not when I need to reload in a hurry.

I think thats real I mean youre talking a tremendous amount of energy being dispersed into the vest and while it is spread along the length of the fiber; youre still effectively being hit in the ribs wiht a piece of metal
