I remember they used Locust models when they were showing of early UE3 so presumably these models are from a new IP.
These guys whine about everythink. Don't care aboutThe people in the comments of that article are idiots. They kept mentioning how "MSAA is useless," that "lol all UE3 games look the same," even "They're not going to be able to make a full game with this." Talk about missing the point entirely. It's not just the fact that the graphics are extremely pretty, it's that those graphics are being rendered in real-time. This tech demo puts pre-rendered FMVs to shame.
That looks exactly like UT3 on the highest detail setting. Of course, that is after you zoom in 100 times on the midget character models. No way it will look that clean when a game actually ships using that tech. I remember Epic showing off preliminary UE3/ UT2007 shots that looked about 10 times better than what any of the games actually looked like.

The demo was running on a system with three graphics cards. That's fairly beastly.
Is rather have them pushing modern hardware to the max then have something that just drags its feet along.

Good interview From 2009! so it's about time. Reading this you kinda get the impression that far better visuals will be possible at much lower cost, simply because DX11 is so much better optimized and efficient. EA bosses are already boasting that BF3 is the best looking, best audio PC game ever, and by a long way.
Judging from the short pre alpha gameplay demo at 1080p http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QComYBWB8b0&feature=player_embedded they may be right.
In the meanwhile UDK March 2011 beta is out with all the new stuff
