my favorite way to attack nodes and the core is to grab the raptor, then the deemer, then hover straight above the enemy node/core so they wont see you. then just bail out in midair and deemer straight down. i've found it works pretty well.

and for the assault players, i've found a trick on the map that i'm pretty sure you're not supposed to be able to do. when you're on defense, if the enemy takes the forward weapons cache, it is still possible to use that turret. just get on the tall piece between the two shields, then dodge jump over so you're hidden from the enemy's lower automated laser turret by the wall that is supporting it. then dodge jump one more time towards the turret you're going for. you go just fast enough past the opening that you can avoid being shot by the laser turret. from there on just hop in your new turret and shoot the enemy's in the back as they try to leave their respawn point

Right. The best way to attack their powernode is with the raptor. One raptor can do a lot of damage especally when a lot of their team is now fighting it out on the powernode trying to regain it.

I found a bug in a server where the hellbender and the scorpion can't move. To fix it get someone in the vehicle and then shoot at it. That will doslodge it so you can keep moving.

Be carefull when going against the other team to harass them at the first node. You usually have to use the raptor to do it, and if the team is playing right there's gonna be a ton of people shooting shock primary at you, which will kill ya pretty fast. I try to use the raptor to gain middle controll early on. Get in the center above the middle controll point and shoot towards them. Once you have your first point you can build in the middle and go from there. If your team organizes it right you can be attacking their 2 nodes in no time. Once you have their tank node and you keep it it's all over.

Another tip don't be afraid to get out of a vehicle. In some cases being on foot is a better option.

IMO the best "start" to Torlan is this:

-One guy gets in the Raptor and goes to harass the enemy
-One guy gets in the Manta and caps the first and second (far) nodes.
-3 Guys load up in a hellbender and attack/hold the middle node (and build it when available)
-Everyone else goes to reinforce the first node, and then the second and center nodes.

After that you can start hitting the two enemy nodes (one at a time) until you push them back into their base. Charge in, blow it up, and its GG.

Good luck finding that coordination on the pubs ;). Though honestly, even if you fill one of those roles (harassing in the Raptor, capping in the Manta), it can help your team a lot :)

How to implement the buddy list: It's disabled in the demo, and it's reliability is sketchy, but you can try it just for kicks. When you're in the main browser, select a server with people in it, then right click on one of the names in the server and choose "Add buddy". Change the name to whatever you want to track in the buddy list.

if you're in a scorpion and are trying to destroy a node, dont charge the shot all the way up. only one or two of the blobs will connect, and others will fly off into the wall and stuff. it works much better to charge up 3-4 blob chains

I suggest:

Take the Hellbinder and capture the first node then, use the link gun to accelarate the constuction rate then, use the goliath and go to the second one then, go for the middle one still using the goliath if the opponent team captured the middle one, destroy the powernode and go to the next two, when you are in the opponent base, use the rocket launcher, got it?

A great way to get a game of Onslaught going is to get people to double up on a Manta. Get two people to hop on the sides of the Manta then drive it over to the first node and rush it for a capture. Load back up and go capture another while the rest of the team rushes to another. If all goes well (And usually does) then all the captures should flow very well together. Remember, this isn't like Halo. The vehicles are very stable for standing on so always double up on vehicles like the Manta's to bring in more allies to a tough fight. The only vehicle that I know you can't do this with is the Raptor, it bucks you right off.

Heading for the nearest skybeam...

Quick tip I got passed in an ONS server, but havn't had the chance to try out yet. You if you have a link gun, you can link to the Manta, increasing it's weapon power.

Simply jump up onto it's fan and stay for the ride, linking with it when you come up against trouble. Be a good move when launching an attack on a node (and like Sl1p said, letting people hitch lifts on Manta fans is a good idea anyway, as it gets your team across the map faster).

With the Vehicles (Hellbender & Scorpion at least) , if you press the "Jump" button & a side direction button whilst at a decent speed you get to do a 180 degree turn on the spot!

Sorry if this is posted before - I just can't be assed to read through it all! ;)

CHEAP tactic Numero Uno!

On Onslaught it's possible for players to walk around on the border terrain! Which means ofcourse, some cheap campers i'm afraid kids! It's a nasty tactic because it not only means you can take shots at the nodes but also at the people and they can't work out where it's coming from because you'd think they'd be coming from INSIDE the arena not outside! Just a heads up!

Well spotted.

Make sure Epic know though.

Just noticed that the raptor can score roadkills!
There is NOTHING more satisfying than plowing the nose cone of the Raptor into a nice line of Bots! :)

Also don't forget the spider mines, Alt fire is a laser that directs the spiders, i find standing in the opponents sniper tower and firing all the spiders on it very satisfying, especially as when you fire the laser they all hop up and you can march them all around the opponents base! :D Also satisfying!
Additionally for you spies that sneak around in enemy bases, sticky grenades, plaster the opponents vehicles with them and wait for them to get in! :)

THose are my tips!

Speaking of grenades, my tip is that firing all 8 grenades and sticking them to a node takes it down to almost half health without setting off any 'node under attack' alarms - take caution though, as someone could spawn there. In my experience, if someone spawns they rarely even notice you lobbing grenades for some odd reason =P

Also, charging down the path at the center node in a manta can get you some serious kills... ;D
