This is something that comes on the original install CD right ? I remember an option that plays a voice whenever you use menu items and other things. Is that the same thing ?

Yes, it's Windows Speech Services.

Neme, make sure the Speech Recognizer is enabled in the speech settings aas well.

Ok, in the game, do the bots have a callsign next to their name? I have only been able to see it on the player indicators and not on the scoreboard.

Next, when you hold down the voice button do you see the voice meter show up on the left side of the screen indicating you are talking?

Also, you have to say things like "charlie defend" and if you say it right, it shows the actual words on the screen in teamsay and the bots understand. This happens for any set of recognized words so it is not always things the bots understand. Do you see this show up when you talk to the bots??

edit: HELL YES. It worked. I had no idea you had to hold the button, I thought it was a toggle.

Well they don't understand a lot of it yet, I think I need to train the SDK a little more. But they got "defend" right (too bad I always send them on attack... lol)

I can see the lil callsigns as you say next to their names (delta, charlie, bravo,echo, ect...) I hold down my activate mic button and the should gets low but when I talk there isn't a lil deal showing my voice level on the left... I seen it once while I was talking to someone in game but I dont see it in single player... does it have to be done in an online game?

make sure you have checked "Speech Recognition" in the settings. Also make sure your voice chat is enabled at all.

Try moving the mic closer to your mouth, like right next to it, or try speaking louder. I've told Tom about this and he said he'd pass it on to those in charge of this.

also, I find that by speaking in a monotone voice (and with a command intonanation) works well.

thats whats happening to me... I have everything checked, I have trained the profile **** alot... I mean I have trained every session twice... my mic should be perfect I talk to people on TS all the time... and no I dont have TS going while trying this... I scream into the mic and still nothing... but like I said the sounds level goes lower like the game is ready for ya to talk but nothing happens...

t2s is a gread idea (though i had it 2 yrs ago=)
but why didn't epic just spend some more money and licence a GOOD text2speech engine, at the moment there's a lot going in speech synthesis

first off, train the profile a bit more.

The GAME has a BUG in where it gets READY for you to speak and then DOESN'T ACCEPT your COMMAND. Can it get any clearer than this? It isn't the profile at fault, the game does not always take your command because the system, while functional, does not work 100% right now.

I just got this working. And now when I play team games in instant action, I am always going to lose, because I can't resist saying 'everyone suicide' every 15 seconds.

Yeah, I know, it's great.

Once a teammate was high above the action in a Raptor so I go "Bravo, suicide" and one second later the Raptor blows up and he kills himself

This voice command stuff is too damn much fun

My team wins despite my best efforts. I shoot everything, friend or foe, and they still take over the nodes and win the game. I run them down in Scorpions and everything, and they still win the game
