INF1 was at its heart a CTF game (capture the CD bring it back to your base hmmmmm) which obviosly came long before TF.

I agree with Snakeye, the hype on games these days is really distressing, and overkill, its seriously out of control.

the fact is that inf is playable right now, with the best fps-engine (UT). So for me the thing is clear as mineralwater... From a lot of other products you hear a lot maybe you can see some screenshots and thats all.. not enough. And I don´t have the time to play diffrent games so I will concentrate on UT. and there I only play with the inf-mod.

LCPL TWENTY

I really don´t know why I posted in this threat and what I wanted to say, sorry

I've read some previews of TF2, and it does sound interesting. One thing to expect is a very different game from the original. Valve has quickly earned a rep for evolving gameplay. According to the preview I read, a lot of new technology in graphics, and many engine tweaks are being incorporated into the game. Nothing gives me the impression that the game won't be good. Hype or not, Valve gives me the impression that they are dedicated to bringing out superior games.

By the way, has anyone heard any news concerning the Powerplay technology being developed by Valve and Cisco. A lan-like connection with nothing more than a 33.6 modem is very intriguing.

Well, I think that the TF series even though the first being very original but lacked that further step to steer it down the road to fame. I will play TF2 just a teeeensy bit more than INF because it is an "full-game".. I mean it doesn't have that... kinda.. MOD feel to it, almost like it's incomplete or something.. you just get that feeling when you play mods that isn't the same when your playing a game developed. Don't get me wrong.. I love INF, I've been waiting for what INF is doing for months.. but I don't know how you guys can crap on TF2 when you haven't even released version 3.0 yet either.

But I ask you, What is it that makes some of you hate this game so much without even giving it a chance.. I mean, are you just going to close yourselves off to the wonderful world of FPS? Whynot give it a chance? Its got great graphics, way better animations.. But why, may I ask, does everyone seem to hate TF2 for being late? I mean, you can't predict when a company is going to be ready to release a game.. The Valve guys aren't perfect.

PS. Give TF2 a chance guys.. Plz for my sake /infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif /infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif /infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif /infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

We don't try to make anything bad, we try to keep INF up.
How would you react if it was the other way round? TF2 is released and INF 3 is not. I go to the TF2 forum and write about INF 3.
I'm sure you'd explain why TF2 is better than INF3.

I'm not trying to be mean but I'm a little hurt that I came here to tell all about something I thought was happy and everyone except Mr.T has crushed all of what I've said and defended INF like I was attacking it or something.. I was just trying to say I was happy about the release of a game, no need to get mad.

I didn't follow why this post turned into an argument over which unreleased game is better (TF2 or INF 3.0), but if you ask me, I think INF 6.2 will definitely be better than TF5. /infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

I for one, was not capping on TF2. What I was capping on was the HYPE associated with many games, not just TF2, these days. TF2 looks great, but thats all it does is LOOK great until I can play demo/beta. Valve is a forward thinking company, and the game probably will be good, but no one can say for sure.

And for the record:

"everyone except Mr.T has crushed all of what I've said and defended INF like I was attacking it or something"

yet in your first post you say:

"get TF2 cause it's gonna LAY THE SMACKDOWN ON ALL OTHER 3dSHOOTERS!!". <- This is not attacking?

When you say things like that, you stir up a hornets nest, so you shouldnt be upset when people come back at you.

Im happy your happy, and I think its a fine off topic post, but just watch yourself when posting and understand the effect it may have, thats all.

Fine, if you want to get technical then I will remind you I said, "all other FPS".... Is infiltration a FPS, no it is a mod for Unreal Tournament which is however.. I was referring to all other games, not mods.

And in my definition a non-mod game is one in which you can buy on a computer store shelf.

I was not attacking INF in any way, just saying that it was going to crush Quake and other fps that promote mindless destruction. I mean, does INF quallify in either of those categories.
You say I am stirring up hornets, well I have made an observation, It seems that whenever there is talk of other games in any forum it is quickly crushed and capped on by a number of people. Snakeye basically said, "If you like TF play TF, If you Like INF then play INF" Well what harm can come of talking about other games? I mean I never said that INF 6.2 be better/worse than TF 5.0.. Is talking about other games really such a threat to the morale of the INF team or what's the real reason this happens. It's just time after time, Strikeforce comes up: it is instantly closed by Warren or someone else, Counterstrike comes up, it was instantly closed, why is the INF team so scared of hearing about other games??

I have no problem talking about other games (see my post about SWAT 3, no problems there). Again, and for the final time, I have a problem with HYPE, not the games themselves.

To me INF is a FPS, the same way that UT, HL, CS, Q1-3 are all FPS. They are all lumped together within the gendre, regardless of mod or non-mod. I see your point, but others may have not, it was good to make yourself clear.

I cant speak for the team, but the reason that topics get closed is not because mods are compared but becuase bashing takes place, forcing them to be closed. All it takes is 'Xmod sucks' to stir up the hornets nest and the topic is closed. I dont think the team has ANY problem with comparison, if only thats where the topic could stay. When trash talking starts its very hard to stop, so its a bit of a downward spiral.

I should refrain and say that I dont think that you purposefully attacked INF, nor did I think you had any intetion. The way that your phrased your jingle could be misinterpreted, and probably was. Again I think that comparison is fine, and I think the off-topic board is a fine place to talk about it, as long as it stays a comparison.

I think there were some things really misunderstood; I don't think that anybody over here hates TF2 - in fact most of us don't know how it will be, and are sick of the hype - not of TF2.
I'll buy that game, if it's good and if it's single player capable - I think I mentioned once or twice that I have not internet access at home..
So I don't think we wanted to offend you - at least we were not more offensive as your first posts..
The main fact is, that INF 2.71 is playable and gives us an impression how 3.0 will be - I didn't hear about TF2-demo..

Once again I want to apologize for anything offensive I said to you - just maybe you're taking this MB too serious.

That's the problem with typing in online forums. It's hard to get a read on how the individual is expressing an opinion. You don't get the tone of voice, so you can't tell whether they are expressing excitement or being argumentative or what. Usually it's a good rule to assume most people aren't trying to start an argument, unless it's obvious.

Anyway, I'm expecting both games to rock! Even if they don't live up to the hype, I usually find something I like in almost all fps games.

And I was only kidding about the INF 6.2 being better than TF5. Just making light of the fact that we were comparing the quality of games that were unreleased.

HEY, speaking of new games, I heard something about a new rainbow six game, covert ops I think. Is that just an add on to RS or is it a whole new game?

I think I read something about the next game in the series enitled Covert Ops. Urban Ops is an add on, but I think a new game is in the works. Now I don't remember where I saw it or what is was exactly. Maybe I dreamed it, but I'll search for it later.

My problem with Rainbow Six is this.
In R6 the missions were very very nice (even though very hard sometimes)
But from Eagle Watch onward, the levels got too big. There's no RS map I can play with 4 players. I'd like to have some smaller levels like in SWAT3.
Just remember: The first mission in SWAT3 was a little house with a shooter and a civilian.
In Rogue Spear it was a big museum with lots of terrorists. When you entered the building via the front entry, you could be sure that at least 1 or 2 of your team died. Too huge maps!

Yeah that would be nice. I sometimes like to play terrorist hunt by myself and it would be nice if there was some variety in map size. It sounds like urban ops will probably have larger city maps too.

Well, I guess I could just play the training maps. But there aren't really any small mission maps. I wonder if there are some good map packs out there?
