Well, in AAO (built on UT2k3) their system is much the same. You get hit, you bleed and a medic fixes you up and you go on your way.

Differences are, the bleeding can stop on it's own but you can also die too. Also, there is a medic that has to heal you, you can not heal yourself [even if you are the medic].

It's not UT99, it's UT. And anything is possible with the engine, just some things need a lot of work for little gain (especially when new engines do it all for you).

Bandages can stop bleeding, they don't miraculously cure wounds nor do they always stop it completely. Thats how they should be implemented in-game.

Wow, Nova posted? Hows it going? Been a while.

Yep, that is what the bandage does, stop the bleeding. It does not heal you to full (from what I recall). If you do not stop the bleeding you die. Also, if you are bleeding you tend to leave (or try to) the battle area so you can safely bandged yourself. Once done perhaps you can contiue doing whatever you where doing. For me, I just get shot again and die.

So, I think it is a neat system and can change the game play a bit.

NT, generally I like you.

I wouldn't claim that I know you but I did play Inf with you for a good long while and you seem like a decent chap.

But.

It's much easier to like you when you don't act like an enormous flaming arsehole.

That is all.

It's not UT99, it's UT

I know Crowze, but when you say 'UT' these days, everybody assumes you're speaking of 2K4. You have to say 'UT99' or 'UTclassic'.

I forgot about the obnoxious technicalities that make the INF forum what it is...

...won't happen again.

It does not heal you to full (from what I recall).

Indeed. And never did I say it did that. I'm saying that it makes you 100% combat effective. As in, you can still fight the good fight within mere seconds of being wounded, as if nothing had happened. Which is silly. You don't limp, you aren't stuck sitting on your ass. You just throw on a bandage (within seconds, by yourself) and you're ready to go again. This is an engine limitation...

Realistically, if you were shot, you would (most likely) fall. You would at least throw up your arms/flinch...something...

I'd like to meet the fella that can take two shots to the chest and continue shooting at you as if nothing even hit him (like the current players do).

I played Urban Combat once, and it sucked. I'd prefer to not play it again in the form of INF. Bandages are just silly right now.

I'm convinced that it's impossible to code realistic 'falls' and 'limps' in UT (regular, not 2K4...I would say 'UT99', but that's incorrect). And hit detection is still something this engine sucks at. Like I said before, I think all of this is a little too ambitious for such a terrible engine...

All in all, I still believe increasing bullet damage solves a lot of issues.
