I know...I haven't one either.
I'm sure I registered here before 2000 (and Rooster, too). Some threads have been deleted I guess. That's the reason why I haven't got a proof.

I just realized that this is the only post I've seen by CHRYSt which is 100% serious. I didn't see anything about marmosets, monkeys, or anything else along those lines.
Now that I've been here for a while, I've seen pretty much the same cycle happen. It seems some people have come and gone (life does that), but now there are a lot more die-hards than there were a couple of months ago.
PuF seems to be doing a 3 step forward, 1 step backward kind of thing.
Since starting, there are more people regularly on #planetunreal today than there were before.
The advent of Rooster's server has helped. CHRYSt also started a server, but has not been advertising it quite so much.
The old regulars (Dec. '99 era) still pop there heads in and post on occasion. It seems we've also got quite a few new members as well. The forum itself is huge due to the people's maturity level, willingness to help others, and some of the wildest senses of humour I've seen.
It gets pretty funny when you see the old posts getting put up as something new, and suddenly everyone replies: "SEARCH ENGINE".
I figured there's enough new people here since this was last brought forward that there'd be some interest. I am personally looking forward to LK's updated history. The Ci (Carpe Imperium aka: Royal Fish) clan is still going strong. I am now second guessing myself for not trying out to join them when they'd first started. For the record, I'm not into clans. The only one I've ever joined was in Diablo because I hated the cheating.
PuF today is alive and stronger than ever, thanks to all of you.

Hahahaha..........I remember when Xylene was first registered here. One of her sigs read "Jenny will rack up a decent number of posts, dammit!".
I left PU for 2 weeks(mercenary contracting keeps me busy). When I left, Xylene had under 100 posts. When I returned, she had 650. Looks like she got what she was looking for.

hmm, well I spent some time typing up a history and was beaten to it:. But I'll post it anyway
OK here it is. The History of PuF in my views, part ][. I'll try to mention my terrible 56K connection and Ci as little as possible . This bit of history isnt as well written as the first part but hey, all this stuff isnt really history anyway, more like current and recent things, soon to be history .
PuF indeed did get much stronger, with the addition of many new people from all accross the world. #planetunreal become very popular and many good games were played. Capture steadily improved itself, and it wasnt long till a new semi-PuF linked site started, PotShots. The place of all that is wacky and insane in UT. Lets face it, being run by Osirus and Xylene, such an insane site couldnt go wrong, (not that there insane, not at all )
It was just before Potshots that Carpe Imperium was formed. It was ironically formed by PuF's losing faith in PuF, and soon was up and running. Matches were played and all went well. The PuF site was resurrected by Hal, and interest in PuF hit new heights. The infamous "Get your acts togethor thread" is still visited by taskmaster, and has now morphed into a whole novel of itself.
Then came a new era, the age of Llamaness!. With the K7 guys and a_nuke invading our sacred forum, the Llama Farm was started. PuF turned into a lynch mob, smiteing down Llama's left right and centre. It was in the middle of this age that Ci stumbled, Jenny quit from Ci, soon followed by Osirus and Cookiemnstr. Then I left due to my already bad connection getting eevn worse. But Ci emerged strong led by Matsumoto, (First led by a women, then by a priest, Ci really do pick their leaders dont they 
And of course, we have Prophetus's accident, but luckly that wasnt as bad as we first suspected, and Proph has already recoved eneugh to kick my lagged out defensless body in chat. (For those who dont know, me and Proph have, and probably always will have, a bit of a friendly rivaly going on, he just dosnt seem to realise that im better than him)
Recent changes have been some of our PuF brethen becoming addicted to MUDing (including me, and even worse, a few of them becoming LPB's (not including me ). Then there was the Rocky vs Xylene battle. Then there was Roosters server. And how could I not mention the new theme nights (started by my MontyPython night I quickly add . Even as I type this, there may be new people joining the great community that is PuF. Again, I've probably missed something huge, so feel free to shout at me if i've missed something. I just hope that these crude words have expressed the greatness that is PuF

By the way, LordKhaine, you may have a high ping, but damn you are hard to hit! I've noticed HPB's "pingaport" around a lot, and whenever you're there I have to guess where you're going to appear next..... I have to shoot purely by instinct. CTF is great when you're around, you keep it fast-paced and fun.

Yeah, I mean sure us LPB's have a distinct advantage with certain weapons and whatnot.. but man, our higher-pinged brethren are no easy targets. A friend of mine on 56k had me host a game with him last night, and it was like.. the whole game was running 50fps, but his movement was going at maybe 10 - 20fps. VERY hard to judge where he was going to be.

Morety: Hell yes. I've had it about a month (with a week and a half of no service about 2 weeks ago) I still get crappy pings to almost all of the west coast but for the most part I'm loving it.

Yes, mine's that way too, only more pl than ping, and mostly east-coast servers. Ah well. Damned if I'm going back to 56k though.

Although I'm from the UK, I probably know the american PuF's more than the EuroPuF's because of my odd sleeping habits! You'll usually find me chatting away in #planetunreal up till at 6:00am(GMT)!

Well, I've actually been around for quite a while although I seldom post. I just feel I don't have much to add to all the nifty and funny answers out there. I might look strange you know.
When I signed up I noticed The Thread and I actually got myself to read the whole thing. It was like 5 or 6 pages when I first came here. Not much useful stuff in it, I have yet to see more spammed thread. I thought about becoming a PuF, but then I thought that most guys around here would be americans (I'm european) and me going to school (occasionally) and all. So I decided against it. But now that I'm not going to school very much I'm thinking about changing my mind. UT is just too much fun and it's going to ruin my life.
So anyway, what I really want to say is. I'd really like to play some games with a few puffers out there. Right about now suits me fine, but if there are set times when people gather I could probably show up then. And a final question; on which server is #planetunreal located? I mostly connect to the network my clan-channel is on (DALnet), but with my usual luck I bet it's somewhere else.
So if anyone could please answer this I'd be really happy. You'll see me in IRC (and in game) as Switch[UF].
