Official UT2004 *Retail* Bug Report/Issues Thread

Issue, not bug: The scoring in ONS sucks. One core destruction, one point. Not two. When I play a game that ends at five points, I want to have to earn those five points, and one at a time.

Well, the cores drain at overtime, so naturally Epic wanted to make a distinction between finishing the job properly or just being ahead.
I can agree with that; they could give you 10 points for a timely victory and 5 for an overtime end. Or 100 to 50, whatever.
It's sorta like a field goal in American football.

Here's a bug you can actually exploit...

Right now the code for totaling credits for multikill bonuses goes like this; If you get a double kill, the game goes DBLKILL +1. If you get a kill after that, the code basically stats DBLKILL -1, MULTIKILL +1. If you get a kill after THAT, it states MULTIKILL -1, ULTRAKILL +1, etc, etc. All you have to do is get a kill past Holy ****, because it does HOLY**** +1, LUDICRIOUS -1. Your HOLY**** +1 goes up, and your LUDICRIOUS -1 goes down AGAIN. This is where things get neat. LUDICROUS -1 from 0 = 255. LUDICROUS -2 from 0 = 254. So at the end of your Single Player match, if you do this once, it'll state 2/3 Holy ****! x 340 credits, and 255/254 LUDICROUS x 210 credits. Get a kill past Holy **** and it's 53550 credits in your pocket. That will last you forever.

It's an easy bug to fix too. Simply stick in a line of code that states that any kill PAST the first Holy **** is only HOLY**** +1, and not LUDICROUS -1, or that LUDICROUS can't be less than 0.

Anyways, I hope that helps. If you want to exploit it before they fix it, I'd recommend doing Bloodrites challenges on Grendelkeep with Instagib on. Of course, that's only preference, do it wherever.

Results from 2700+ w/ 9600 Pro test:

Game runs very good at 1280x1024 and the graphics are beautiful. HOWEVER, it the game studders in ONS mode and on AS mode too. All other game types run smooth.

Anyone else notice a delay in shutting down windows after exitting UT2004? I have. There seems to be memory leaks of some type. Load times didn't get any better on this system as compared to the laptop either.

I know exactly what he's talking about too. I went a little insane on Face with a modified sniper rifle and, well.... I did get 54 Holy Sh*t kills (it counts each time the announcer says it this time) but Shai's right, your Ludicrous count will go down again. Hence the pic. Behold my killer 209 Ludicrous kills, that I did not get. :)

Okay I can understand that but lets say the red team is winning but it goes into overtime. Now the blue team, maybe a bit desperate, pulls off the come from behind win. Does the Blue team get two points or one? If I had to guess, with all the other bugs being reported,, I would say one when it should be two or maybe even three if you can do a CFB like that.

ok here's a follow up on a crosshair glitch. if you go in and select "classic" models for any weapons and then hit "defaults", some of the weapons will have no crosshairs selected at all. sloppy stuff. this may happen by making a custom crosshair first and then hitting "defaults", or maybe even by just hitting defaults without changing anything first, but i haven't tested.

if anyone else was unfortunate enough to hit "defaults" on this screen you'll have to go into the user.ini and delete all the xWeapon entries.

What actually happens is the game sets the opacity to 0 making the crosshairs invisible on most weapons, and changes the color to blue. This happened to me and I just deleted my user.ini file. Everything was restored to normal.

It's not exactly fair, I'll grant you that. On the other hand it's the blue team's own fault that they had to make this comeback in the first place, I know no game that especially rewards you for a comback.
I guess I would have made the scoring distinction between "core drains to zero" and "core is killed by a hit" ...

Ok, well i hjave to problems. First off, my voice ordering won't work. I checked off the box that enables. I also trained my profile a thousand times, but it still doesn't work. Im sayin the rite phrases to.

Also, in instant action, i check off the box that enables trans, but whnever i play, it doesn't let me use a trans. it doesnt even show...........Do u guys know whats up?

Oh, and my issue with the game is that the "Firefly" bomber isn't properly coded as player vehicle. The model looks so cool it's a real shame you normally only see it as a distant silhouette.

Actually, the voice recognition tends to recognize some command no matter what I say. I had it left on during online play and when I said "good game" it recognized "Gamma Gimme" ..

Voice chat works allright for you?

Big bug, try it out, I hate it.

Another big 'ol bug for you guys. I hope you're submitting these soon.

Any map with a Leviathan and any other vehicles, works best with the raptor. Wedge the raptor underneath of one of the Leviathan's sides, deploy the Leviathan. The Leviathan will mount on top of the Raptor/other vehicle. You can then drive the other vehicle around (Or fly the Leviathan over everything) and it'll stick to the vehicle without a problem, blasting away with it's deployed turret (And any side turrets your teammates are in). All the manuverability of a Raptor, all the destruction of a deployed Leviathan.

Fix it, please.

Am I the only one finding the BIG bugs? Screw crosshairs, these are gameplay issues and imbalances. :lol:

Anyways, over and out. Time to play some more online, find more bugs. ><

voice chat works fine for me, but not voice recognition.......they dont understand anythin (The bots).............
