A Christian is someone that follows Christ. Just because a confused man or organization does horrible things in the name of Christ, that has nothing to do with Jesus. Even the term Christian, in the Bible, was actually a term people used to make fun of followers of Christ, because they said they were like "little Christs," and this term was soon adopted by Christians, but in Biblical times, was always tied to the persecutions the Christians endured.

...

True Christians have never been the ones to raise and fight physical war, as Paul said our war is not against flesh, but is against spiritual wickedness in high places

...

even so many have done a lot of bad things under the name of Christ, but they were in no way, shape, or form, are Christians, as it's the complete antipode of a Christian to murder someone.

In the same way we can't blame Islam for the victims of terrorism, and Islam has never been the ones to raise and fight physical war. Still you posted this pic blaming the religion. And in the wider definition, you are just as wrong as the nazis who claim the holocaust never happened if you can't see that Christians have slain people ever since the holy crusade. Just as all other religious fanatics you make no sense and answers fact with fiction. Religion is a comforter people use to explain what they don't understand, but in politics I think it's better that people actually knew what they were talking about instead of fighting fictional demons. That's why political leaders who claim that God is on their side scares me.

Well it's simple. If God is on their side they can't be wrong can they ?

Funny how all of a sudden Wikipedia is a valid source of information. I recall some threads a while back in which a generous number of member here claimed that use of Wikipedia sources were not valid for argumentation, as the information may not be factually based.

Not dissing anyone, just making an observation.
Well, I think they were just posting the links to make a point. Posting a link to Wikipedia's entry of the crusades is kinda like saying, "How about the Crusades, eh?"

Anwhoo, not that I've read any of this thread besides the first page and this one, nor have I been following the election anywhere near as close as I should, but it seems like Obama thinks along the same lines as me. Whenever he answers a question -- from the gas tax to his speech on Reverend Wright -- it's how I would answer it if I were in that situation. So yeah, Obama '08. :)

Yet once again people can't answer a question, can only link to a non-applicable issue, or introduce a red herring.

Islam was started as a murderous religion, as it didn't just start on September 11.

Christianity, however, started with Jesus Christ, who died for our sins, rather than kill us for our sins. Have it your way if you want, sleep on in ignorance as a dumb dog at hell's gate.

Yunaco - Where Religion goes to be brutally killed

As for what the question was, the question was asking for a reference of a Christian (i.e.-someone Christ-like) murdering someone? So far, you have only given examples of governments and non-Christian groups killing each other.

OK, if you're not considering The Crusades to be murder because the Muslims captured Jerusalem from the Christians (and the Christians were just raping and pillaging to get what's rightfully theirs back), that's fine. And if you're not considering the Salem Witch Trials to be murder because, based on the evidence at the time, it appeared that those prosecuted were certainly witches out to use black magic against the God-fearing Protestants of Salem. Or perhaps you just want to look at thoroughbred Christians, not Protestants. And I'm sure that if someone were to bring up a specific murder case, you would simply say that person wasn't a "true Christian," because a true Christian wouldn't murder. Well, then that goes both ways, and the Islamic extremists aren't true Muslims. Actually, I believe the Islamic church has denounced terrorism and extremism many times now.

But, let's get back to the real issue here: what matters in the presidential election. Oh, right, we're talking about religion. In that case, carry on. ;)

Oh, I would love to hear how you came to this conclusion.

The fricking holy crusades, 'nuff said. Please give me an example of a muslim murdering someone? So far we have only heard about governments and non-muslim groups killing each other.

Jonathan whatever happened this tolerance us Christians are supposed to practise ? I'm not attacking you or anything but something that's been said has obviously struck a sensitive cord. If you have differing views you don't have justify yourself. Just don't expect people to be understanding if you act as if they're being hostile to you. Rather try to put some rational arguments accross so the debate goes somewhere.
