Ok, I'm impressed now. Well I'm becoming convinced that I'm GOING to be impressed, and happy to call UT my main game again.
See, at first I thought the "Patchzilla" and the Titan Pack were one and the same. Now that I really am starting to see how much behind-the-scenes work has been apparently going on at Epic to fix and update UT3.
If all this does in fact happen I'll be ready to enjoy UT3, and looking forward to buying the next game in the Franchise.
Here's my hopes for UT3, but lots of it is unrealistic I know:
-Single Player Campaign: Gone, and replaced with a heavily "Assault feeling" set of objective-based levels.
-Get some of that fancy lighting to be dynamic. I know there's tons of visual layering and little details of effects in much of the game, but seeing firelight not flicker or waver is just odd.
-Uncomplicate sound rendering. (3 sound cards, tons of optimizing, tweaking, and still it always sounds like someone else is picking up my items for me,.. someone behind and to the right of me... yet all other games sounds are fine.)
Still, my gripes aside, I'm totally impressed that Epic has even given thought to fixing UT3 after the backlash and poor sales. Doing all this in a way that gives us a better game for FREE is double amazing.
If they get this right, they'll be winning back a fervent fanboy, amateur level designer and preacher of the UT gospel.
**My 4 year old saw me playing UT3 this morning when he woke up, he said "Dat's not your zombie game, dat's your old game. It's working now?"
I said, Yup, dat's daddy's old game, and yeah it's getting fixed finally."

corny, I know, but he used to love watching me edit maps and jam to tunes with me on our headphones.
