Another thing: how can I download nearly 6 MB with my 56k modem without dying in the process?
Only have the download process running if you can. Other wise if your home phone is dial up and some were else(work ex.) is faster try using a thmbdrive(too small know but eventually will be bigger) or burn cds from your business and then delete the files that are there so the work drive is clean. An 80 700mb cds come cheap at places like costco though you have to be careful of snooping programs or people.
Use a prog like GetRight - I'm on 56k and I use GetRight all the time. Doesn't matter if you get cut off or anything as you can just resume from where you left off. You can also pause downloads in the middle of them and even schedule when to download stuff, where to put them, it'll hang up your modem and even turn off the pc if you want. Hell, I'm surprised it doesn't eject the coffee cup holder while it does it

Have you looked into DSL or a faster connections? And what is youre provider now? As well as your land line plan?

Yeah , that´s the best way .I´m waiting for DSL since 2000 , but my wife don´t want to move
and there are no plans from my provider to get DSL to our area .
One solution is Satellite broadband although it's not as good - I looked into that and it's only €1400 for the modem (equipment). Let's start a fund drive for one each when BU get their server
I have Verizon DSL so the landline and internet is on one line. Just split them amongct the phones. I have AT&T for cell but only because thats the only way to reach some people I know during work because of coverage areas. Perfect single at home and at the business spots but everywere else its dead. When they put up a GSM tower in my neighborhood I'll get gsm. Hopefully one with good games(shooters like rtype are good).
