Can't believe this got bumped! Anyway, here's some new (at least to me) DM maps that should be added to the list:

DM-Agio
DM-Beholden: Observatory Revisited
DM-Blood and Iron
DM-Constructor
DM-Egyptian Ownage
DM-FbRoute66
DM-Khalnora
DM-ReconStarCruise
DM-Sion

I know at least one server admin. that would agree with me. Also, some may have been mentioned by me originally, but didn't see them in Hal's comprehensive list. See Ya!

i think u can see all the most popular maps on ngstats. you have to cycle thru DM/CTF/DOM sections, but as u go down past the orginal maps that are played the most you will find custom maps. otherwise i dunno, i dont play custom maps much...well after this thread maybe i will :D

Well, I say we keep DM-Frantic and CTF-FloatingPyramids, to start off.
I also agree that DM-Hall_of_Legends is truly unique in the custom map community.
Were DM-Dogtown and DM-Marica mentioned?
Oh yeah, change DOM-SumPyramid to DOM-SunPyramid, because this is the way it's really spelled.
However, I'm no fan of DM-Synergy and CTF-Esprit.
I also have strong reservations about DM-Organic, DM-Scimitar, CTF-EventHorizon, and CTF-Inside. (Inside][ is okay though.)

The only thing wrong with DM-Organic and DM-Scimitar is that you need a lot of players. They are excellent maps that have "not the same old" UT textures and colors and very refreshing; kinda like DM-Rage2. DM-Synergy can get boring as there are maps similar, but it's still good.

Okay, I deleted Scimitar, Organic and Inside. I truly think that they don't belong. (inspite of David's strong objections;)) I did keep EventHorizon until I can fire it up again and replay it. I remember it being "different", but I don't remember much about the play (maybe that says it all right there;)).

I did add Marica and Dogtown based on your recommendation, TechnoArcher. I've never played them, does anyone disagree with their inclusion?

I've added CTF-Urban_Uprising because I think that it's well done, plays well, and isn't a space or castle map. :)

Added:
DM-Agio
DM-Blood and Iron
DM-Sion (never played this one)

As always, debate away....

OK, you have to play DM-Sion, it makes DM-Amon look like child's play.

Please tell me DM-Beholden is still on the list. This IS definitely one of the most popular custom online DM maps!

DM-Dogtown is a good map to have on the list; DM-Marica is just O.K., can't think of any reasons to delete it though.

CTF-Urban-Uprising is a great addition.

Too bad about Scimitar and Organic. TechnoArcher, what are your strong objections to those 2 maps?

Bring back Scimitar!

Too bad about Scimitar and Organic. TechnoArcher, what are your strong objections to those 2 maps?

I was wondering the same thing, especially about Scimitar. Scimitar is a truly wonderful map. Not to mention the fact that Scimitar is one of only 2 maps to be given a perfect score by NaliCity (the other being AS-Bridge).

I think both (or at least Scimitar) should be put back on the list ASAP.:D

You forgot DM-Helleth and DM-Empowered. They also got 10/10 from NaliCity, so they are good enough as well.
DM-Rage2 got 100% at 3 other pages, but that's not so meaningful, because their reviewers aren't as professional as NaliCity's. They are really worth the money!

Organic: there's just too much space between different places in the map, and too many tunnels to search through before you find anyone. You're doing too much running and not enough fragging. This is true despite the teleporters. I typically lose in botmatches in Organic simply because I don't even have enough encounters to come close to the frag limit. However, the map is very good for the TallyHo! mod.

Scimitar: the texturing is awful. And the music is worse! Not only that, but this is one of the few maps where I had no sense of place whatsoever. I spent 60 grueling minutes on that map after I downloaded it, and I was never able to adequately navigate it. Maybe with more realistic textures and Enigma.umx running in the background it would be better. I have to say that the perfect score on Nali City was what caught my eye in the first place, but it's not a score I would have given this map.

Why isn't the 1v1 map pack played more, DavidM's first one is a little bit excessive for the dimwits who still have shiny surfaces on. The rest of them are low poly and very good, imo the best maps for UT, seems strange as people always whine about the lack of decent 1v1 maps.
I must say I really become depressed by the US servers running DM-CLOSET]|||||||||||||||||||||[ ...... why?

In Europe no one wants to play custom maps, seems strange all the best mappers are European.

DM-Aberrance might have been made by someone else (I'm not a fanboy :D)

I lump DM-Organic into the same bag as AS-Planeshifter. It's uncontroled Ued building that's impressive in scale alone. When I've played them I find myself asking.... "why?". Just MHO.

SamuraiSludge, I agree with you; both maps should be put back on.

TechnoArcher, I can understand why some people might have objections to these maps. DM-Organic is actually not as large as you might think; just try to stay in or near the large open central area with the purple invisibility on top. I actually like tunnels and running around; maybe that's why I like this map, also it's originality. DM-Scimitar is just a lot different than most UT maps. It may be tough to navigate, but it's still fun; actually, I kinda like the music track. It's nice to get away from the room/corridor/room disease some UT maps have.

Danz, it seems no one wants to play custom maps here either. Have you seen all the in-game maps on the servers? It's disgusting!

Has anyone played DM-SpaceBeacon lately. This is a nice map that is great for praticing your aiming skills. Add 16 bots and have a snipe fest. Thats one huge map....
