Hehehe thread still alive
This might sound stupid but I would like to take a look into the map mh-godz-saltified, I tried to google it up but no succes.. I need to look at it for my current mapping project...
i would certainly like to see that map finished. i am told the guy who made it doesn't mind. apparently he lost interest. i do have the map on my server (half a map actually) just go dl it from there.
after you complete certain parts of the map, the tentacle parts i believe, you get a custom weapon. like...a ripper that shoots red blades, after you destroy the tentacles that shoot the red proj. what's distressing to me is- there is no ammo for these weapons, and utj does not replenish them, so..you have a few rounds..and then that's it.
i also believe that the fly part has to be re-thought. if you stand at a certain point on that spinning circular room, you just need to fire in a straight line and you will wipe them out..they will fly right into your fire.
too easy i think.
despite what some say, i have noticed that the map is enjoyed on my server.
i think it would get alot of play if it was complete.
i can send you the map if you wish...through msn or something.:)

Ahhh that's good ;)
I'm not logged in ATM tho (can't till this evening)

I heard he would like it if someone else finished his map...
Me and a friend of mine are thinking about doing that.
(after we finished our Final fantasy 7 map)

For those of you who haven't yet tried the new and improved MH-LongCorridor, a couple of shots from the Behemoth "corridor":

This is not your grandfather's LongCorridor.

Hi guys,

Mapper-person here. Right now I am busy working on a SP mod project, but when I get done I might like to do some mapping for MH if there's still an active community. I always loved MH, even though it was filled with so many horrible maps, so I figure I may as well try to contribute something. Can someone give me some pointers on getting started?

sure!..make a map with lots of tough monsters that we can kill, and make the map really detailed, with lots of areas that you need to think, to progress through. the rest i leave to your maping abilities! :D

Done?

Is the final version done? IS it released? Where is it? Who will send it to me? Don't send a BETA. If the final is out give it to me already! THANKS!

Oh, for some reason I thought you did it. Yeah, he did an excellent job. It's not really a corridor anymore, but it is still LONG.

well , i did a part of this level , the first corridors exactly until the behemoths , but 2k finished them and added all the parts after the behemoths ;)

Hermskii , the map is still beta ATM , but is fully playable , you can put the last version on you server without problems :)

Nope

Thanks Derdak2rot. I would but I hate having to update maps so I just wait till the final comes out unless it will be a never ending work in progress. Is that going to be the story with this one? If it is good enough now, why is it still considered a BETA?

Quite simple, they want it to be perfect.
everything is in it, no problems found.
nothing that can hamper gameplay, just that Nr.2000 and Derdak2Rot
want it to be perfect to show that even something representing GODZ *couch* gameplay can be looking good and play nice:D

yep , Vat is right ;)

there is though a problem with the last version , it can be completed in 2 hours minimum . 2k told me he want to reduce this time to 1h30 for better time spend in the map .

about the updates , im sure there will not be too much of those on the map , maybe one for the time play fix , but other than that , its pretty close to final imo :)

Well, there definitely still is an active community. And the Horrible map problem is slowly getting better thanks to the effort of many of the people that visit this thread. So you can rest assured that if you create a good map, it will be played.

For getting started on MH mapping, you might want to check out the MH Mapping guide on PlanetMonsterHunt.com. www.planetmonsterhunt.com/mappingguide.html
I wrote it to be geared more toward newer mappers, so if you have already done SP maps, chances are there wont be too much new information there. However, you might want to give it a read. Its a little outdated (ill be updating it when i finish coding TeamMH) but it discusses some things about what makes a good map, and a few of the common techniqies used in MH mapping.

Other than that, just hop on some of the poulated servers and play a few maps. You might get some ideas, and you can tell what people enjoy and what they dont in an MH map. And of course, the people in the many mh forums out there will gladly give feedback. A few good sites are here (of course), www.planetmonsterhunt.com, and www.excalibur-holland.net.

Hope that helps.
