Ive had the same thoughts as you guys had....

I've been away from infiltration for over a year, and when i finally decided to play it again a couple of weeks ago i was amazed that is still ahd only a few servers, and that the playerbase hadnt grown to much to....

so, what could be the problem?
i thinkl there a few things, but mainly, infiltration isnt your standard FPS, its more complicated, and it has some unique features that will make many noobs consufed, weapon collision for one(i didnt like 2.86 when it came out just because i didnt understand weapon collision..took me 3 weeks...).

so, i decided to make a tutorial...
I had *some* knowlodge of mapping, but not alot, so i decided to make a mild conversion of shootingrange....
theres not much left of shootingrange now, you might reconmize some stuff, but most has changed....

I finished the obstacle course, wich lets the player jump, duck, crouch, swim, open a door, climb a ladder, and go through a lift.
the end of the obstacle course is a bit narrow, i think im gonna explain weapon collision there....
I yesterday started making the short-range targets for pistols.

This is my first map and im learning as i go...so dont expect this to be released tomorrow, might take a few weeks....
are there more ppl working on such projects?
maybe we can join our efforts.....

also, im in desperate need of a coder, i want to:
add voice command(climb that ladder you soldier!)
add goals(climb ladder, pickup weapons ect.)
add dynamic key display(press <key set> to open door).

and probably a few other little things i havent really though of as of yet.....

my recent problem is decribed here: http://forums.beyondunreal.com/showthread.php?t=145749

is anyone capable and willing to help me? an experiencedd mapper might also be usefull, this is my first real map and im learning alot of stuff as as i go, if someone would be willing to review my map and say whats wrong with it(probably a number of things....)

see attaachments below for two screenshots...note that i havent done most of the textures properly!

A good tutorial in my opinion would be something done in the same spirit as the training maps that can be found in the Strike Force mod.
It began with the classic explanations about moves and firing ranges, then end in a building where you had to fight enemy bots located in different rooms.

It was made on 2 maps , linked like in a single player campaign (once you reached the end of the first map, it launched the 2nd training map to continue the training.

Something like that for Infiltration would certainly be interesting for new possible players. In this version of Infiltration or for the next opus.

Another good thing to do would be to have targets made of INF soldier meshes of different camos. The newbie would have to look at a camo texture (hopefully using the scoreboard like an online match) and then try to pick off the hostiles out of the friendies. It would be a great lesson in camo recognition. I know a lot of newbies have trouble with that.

It might even be something along the lines of just replacing the red target movers with soldier meshes and having them pop up. Shooting targets in friendly camo would result in a big message onscreen.

It has been a long time i have not played Strike Force, it is very possible that the latest versions do not include this tutorial as i never played those versions.

I will give a look into my backup cds to find the version which had it.

EDIT...........
Confirmed tutorial in Strike Force 1.60 (the first version i found on my archives) that i just installed again to see if my memory was good or not.

No idea or memory about the presence of this good tutorial in higher versions (1.65, 1.70 , 1.75 , 1.80 ... )
And i will not investigate on those versions :) .
