Make People Like UT3

Apparently some people are stuck in the past and can't get over how utcomp was in 2k3/2k4 and how it is now in UT3.

Just like how die hard UT'ers prefer their 2 poly player models and 10 year old game. :crysmile:
How could it be any better in UT3?

I guess all that really bothered me was the bad ping compensation, does UTcomp in Ut3 even have that?

Ok, now I'm curious:
* What was so problematic about UTComp in UT2004?
* Where are Euro vs NA competitions, and how would ping compensation make them worse
* How introducing UTComp on an handful of servers would reduce the online player count?
* If you don't like UTComp, they explain in what way you would be forced to join such servers.

Ok, but please someone explain why it isn't liked, what was wrong about it in UT2004, why isn't ping compensation good enough for nice Euro vs NA games, etc... I'd just like to understand whaat's to lose

It does have ping compensation but it doesn't work too well. But most of the servers don't run it anyways.

Oh, and we had 2 big EU vs NA warfare matches that were great fun and EU clans are also competing with NA clans on fraggednation.

Same thing, love it in UT3...sadly nothing but duel servers have it on in UT3.

Really sux, as i need my brightskins... :(

in otherwords, you suck as you can't hit anything that isn't a neon flashing sign. It's not like players are really hard to see in this game...

Nothing but duel servers have it on because its not needed. Players are clearly visible enough. No need to run the game into red blobs vs blue blobs.

You don't have to be a dick, if you don't like how he enjoys the game. Just shut up. The forums are bad enough already.

I take it you don't play UT3?

There are way too many maps where it's rather hard to see **** all, nevermind the players trying to kill you.

I have my graphics customized so i can somewhat see better, but still don't lose all the prettiness, but yeah, it's still not great for visibility.
Or maybe i'm just going blind, i dunno.
I didn't have much trouble seeing players in UT2k4 (w/o brightskins), but i do in UT3.

I also love being able to actually hear (via hitsounds) when i actually did hit someone, not just guess if that shot actually hit.

Multiplay Duel, TDM & BTA servers have utcomp on. Actually most BTA servers have it running.

BTA?

And sadly, the populated TDM server (Beer Drinkers), does not.

Players glow bright red, or bright blue; they're brightskins already. I really have trouble working out why people need to make them even brighter unless they have serious issues with their displays or their eyes.

This is just my very personal opinion based on my personal experience:

In UT2004 Servers with ping-compensation threw my aim off for a while until I got used to it. Switching back to a server with normal made resulted in the same: Aimm a little off until got used to.
And with switching servers several times a night it became annoying. :)

No... I only helped to bring you UT3 jailbreak, I don't play this game at all :rolleyes:

It's a little harder in some DM maps when playing FFA, but in all team games plus betrayal it's very clear where your targets are, as in fact the further away they are, the more they glow.

At any rate, My feeling is that brightskins eliminate skill, not promote it. It removes any ability to use the layout of the level to your advantage (which is in itself a skill to be learned) and you end up such that you may as well be playing in DM-GiantCube.
