Major UT3 Update Details

  • Two Factor Authentication is now available on BeyondUnreal Forums. To configure it, visit your Profile and look for the "Two Step Verification" option on the left side. We can send codes via email (may be slower) or you can set up any TOTP Authenticator app on your phone (Authy, Google Authenticator, etc) to deliver codes. It is highly recommended that you configure this to keep your account safe.

Epic thank you so very much for making these needed improvements to the game! I'm excited about the expansion!

A few spectator improvements would be very welcome, please consider these requests:
(the below are for spectator fixes/improvements)

To have a key to press to place camera positions around the map and be able to cycle through them with the mouse wheel would be very convenient. These camera positions would be remembered between sessions (stored in a text file?). Also a key to remove the camera positions would be nice (but not required if we have access to the text file). If you really like this idea, please consider showing a camera position number on screen initially for a couple seconds so that we know what position to edit in the text file..

Alternatively, a simpler, but less convenient way to quickly move the spectator camera, is to be able to click the full screen map to move the camera across the map.

On many user-created maps, the spectator camera's default free-flying view is outside the map and can't be moved inside the play area. Why not have the camera use player spawn locations?

There is a bug when spectating someone who activates his hoverboard. The spectator's view briefly switches to another area for half a second and then returns back to the player. It would be nice to have the camera stay on the player when he activates the board.

To be able to click on a player name in the list to spec that player.

Also a new (additional) follow mode that follows the top scoring player would be nice and have it so that it switches automatically when another player's score becomes the highest.

It would be nice to show spectators in the player list, please.

A first person spectate mode would be very nice.

A wider 'field of view' for spectators as an option. For example, holding a key down and scrolling mouse wheel would increase/decrease FOV and show the FOV value on-screen while it changes. (just be careful it can't be hacked into by players..)

For regular players:

Please allow wider FOV for players. On my 16:10 aspect LCD monitor, I would love to use a 120 FOV, for example. The 100 FOV feels a bit like tunnel vision.

But I did not see that you whould had blood in it, you kno when killing a bot, that I think that is a must for the game

And yes, this will definitely motivate me to get UT3. After getting a faster internet, that is. Good thing they have made performance improvements - more FPS from my Radeon HD 2600 XT :D

And yes, we are waiting for the gametype and map updates. Currently, although the list is huge, it just looks like a 1.4 patch.

Hopefully this will get my friend clamouring that UT2004 is better each time I show him an effin map on UT3 to shut up. :D

This might also get me back to UT :O Very nice list there. UT isn't dead yet :)

I'm going to use the Goliath more than never when I'll be getting this patch.

This is brilliant.

I am actually worried about the changes...(even the increased underwater damage wtf) I mean I found the vehicles rather balanced now and even if goliath was weaker, I mean I hated ut2004 goliath...unreal2xmp juggernaut is more balanced than that........you should play u2xmp someday if you didn't anyway, I mean you can just grab xmp community installer and play (though after editing your ini so the master server will work right and don't crash as it does on community edition and community edition doesn't have original splash screens, but its easier than getting normal xmp and installing patches and addons etc). U2XMP is different than UT though, but its not a bad game, in fact its brilliant and fun team based game and much better than team fortress series and most importantly not boring like modern shooters tend to do.

Well I hope this new goliath won't be too overpowered, not as strong as ut2004 one at least. I mean even now in UT3 I find lame players abusing goliaths and witht his it will be even bigger I dont think this is that brilliant at all....
Other things seem fine with this update, but all I would really want is to get rid of lamespy system, thats the biggest problem of the game, I mean I am fine with the rest. :p
Maybe that's also why the game is less populated, because people are lazy to create their lamespy accounts to play online or don't simply bother to...also some people simply didn't try UT3 when they discovered about gamespy system.
I don't have myself that big problem with it though....but it should be independand of gamespy, only master serger should be on gamespy and not whole ability to play online. I mean lamespy goes down everythings ruined then.....not even able to join through IP I think..

There is a fix there for "suspense_necris"......... wat? I don't recall any necrified suspense map.

And there is no fix/option for flak cannon trajectory being totally wtf. Sure, i came when i read the list, but it would be near perfect if it fixed up the falk cannon. (And maybe the rocket launcher, i would appreciate it if they added an option to make rocket and grenade delivery similar to how it was done in unreal and UT. It was so much easier that way) Also trajectory needs to be fixed on multiple weapons, the rocket launcher suffers from "flak secondary syndrome" as well when firing grenades. I was on morbias once against some bots, i loaded up 3 grenades and pointed my crosshair at a demoguy standing right in front of me. The grenades just flew right over his head and he didn't even dodge them (I was botmashing novice bots at the time just for something different). That is unacceptable, if i point my gun at a player standign close to me and press fire, and that player does not move at all, then logically i should hit him.

And id i read somewhere in that list that you can control spider mines with the enforcer and sniper rifle? O.O

Epic listened. Nearly every focus of whining has been addressed. Not too long ago people were questioning whether or not Epic "sold out" to the console market and abandoned their PC player base. The list of fixes along with the promise for more fixes lends incontrovertible proof that the answer to that question is no.

I'd like to pass on my thanks to Epic for their continued hard work, which I suspect will now result in the tanking of my GPA ;)

360 version had it I think. Which either means that this patch will hit the consoles at some point or the "Titan Pack" includes the 360 content.

EDIT: I imagine that this is what's been currently fixed. With no ETA (or even word of it being sent out to the mailing lists for testing/feedback) I imagine there's still more work being done.

CTF flag is hidden for player carrying it.
Why that? I think it was kinda cool feature in UT3 and it didn't bother my view....should be clientside option then and not just being removed....
