Also, for those of you who are asking about STEAM support re: achievements.

If you use the "add steam game" menu in your steam window, and enter your boxed game's CD key, assuming the game can be bought ON steam, the game will be added to your steam account much like any other steam-bought game.

That only works for a very small number of games. I tried that with Doom 3 a while ago and it wouldn't take it.

I am quite pleased to see that Epic has apparently listened to its customers and decided to fix some of the glaring issues. I, for one, will be much happier to see the advanced video options page actually be an advanced video options page and not a 1-to-5 slider on "detail", among other things.

My only fear is that it will come too late, after the damage has been done. But they are willing to mend it for people willing to give the game another chance after its first showing, so that's good.

We shall see.

well, just take a look at UT2003 -> UT2004. to me this biiiiiig pack sounds pretty similar (just as the bitching about UT3 sounds really similar to the bitching about UT2003) and judging by its success UT2004 did not really come too late.

I'm pretty good in it, but for a lot of people that thing is a deathtrap.

To be honest, I would've liked to see the range on the cannon increased as opposed to the health, but hey, I'll have to worry less about Scorpions and Vipers slamming into me, now. :p

Yeah, I wouldn't mind if they nearly doubled the Goliath's and Darkwalker's health. I want a long drawn out battle between the two.

(better increase levi a bit too if this becomes the case...which it won't...but...you know)

Amazing news! After that defibrillation Unreal Torunament will be much more familiar for some of us!
Hope this will finally close all pessimistic doors.

I hope i can add my UT3 CE to Steam when that time comes (and not be forced to buy it again)

Does this mean Epic will be ditching Gamespy for Steam? (fingers crossed they will)

I'm wondering this as well, although I doubt it will happen with a patch (could be entirely wrong here). Given Midway's dubious future, I wouldn't be surprised if Epic strikes out on their own with Steam (and GOG to a lesser extent) as their content provider at some point in the near future. Not sure what this means in terms of retail sales, but anyone who has been following Epic since the early 90's knows they're no stranger to digital distribution as they started out as a shareware company.

Steam's community features would be a very good step up from what they were trying to accomplish with the Gamespy pairing. If they can run their own Master Server it would certainly be a great (and probably well received) replacement.

Ideally Steam would allow them to push out smaller bugfixes without needing to resort to large patches like this (which is comparable to an MMO patch in terms of fixes), something that probably should've been done over the course of the last year in order to keep people marginally interested in the game. Although, Valve has found that bigger patches tend to get more attention (free publicity on news sites!) so maybe it's just as well.

Hopefully the fact? that they ran out of CD-keys when UT3 were sold on Steam opened their eyes.

Anyway, reading the whole patchlist, its certainly a step in the right direction.
