Is Unreal 1 more popular than UT3?

I think you forgot something... you DO know what your after and you DO know your objective in Unreal II. The Artifacts.

You don't until Acheron. You're on Sactuary just to rescue civilians (which you miserably fail at), on Swamp to help out your buddies Marines and on Hell to contact the research facility.

lol.. which is exactly the point where the game starts going downhill (although there is some things which do appeal after that point).

Drakk homeworld was the pinnacle of the Unreal 2's environments.

Funny that it could be different actually, there were perhaps even more interesting worlds cut, not to mention even some skaarj spaceship or something too.
The worst thing of final version of Unreal2 is that some enemies were used rather rarely and in the end humans were the most used enemies (during the full center of the game, only exception to this is beginning and end), the izanagi soldiers that is.....
I mean it couldn't be bad, only if the aliens were more used in between and the other alien races such as shian, more skaarj and izarian types, striders and N and perhaps something else were not cut.
There were rumors and someone claiming they were (well the part of Legend who did not leave, remember that Worch and such left before U2XMP was done) working on an singleplayer expansion to fix that, plus perhaps another game. Anyway Infogrames should have never acquired the company in first place, not even GT, although GT didn't suck so much as Infogrames/Atari.

I've talked to one of the Unreal II developers, and he said that Shian did exist in some form, "had a complete story/level progression with a spaceship floating on a water planet, after which you went to the bottom of the ocean". It was cut because of time pressure... But the N and Striders were only concepts, nothing else, and were never even started to be coded/modelled. There are a few models of Strider equipment, though, but they are only for testing purposes.

There wasn't a single player expansion planned, but U2XMP was. It's a multiplayer expansion, and it does contain some of the levels that were started but never finished, like XMP-Sirocco or XMP-Freefall.

That's not true, there are classes for these in the alpha tech demo even..........
Wonder who this guy is then..perhaps he was one of those who left Legend before release of U2XMP etc?

Are those classes fully working? Alpha XMP classes are in Unreal II as well, but they don't work how they should so they are also considered as concept only.
