Problem is that finding people with an obvious but still natural sounding accent probably isn't easy. What about voicepacks done in another language?

This is an excellent idea! Im sure all the german and french players would enjoy that. Perhaps you could still make the text that appears when you hit a voice bind still in english so the others can understnad?

I still think more accents and voices would be nice. Even if they are regular old english voices.

.

thats how it is in ttr (rip).
that cool be good but should be clientside, to prevent 2mb download when joining a server

In UT, you can't make a voicepack clientside. In fact, every package has to be on the server and the client. ;)

I could help! I just bought me a headset yesterday, the quality of the microphone is extremely good for:
A) The price (€9.99)
B) The size and shape of the micro itself
C) Even a normal microphone... ;)

I'm 100% willing to make a belgian voicepack, though nobody would ever use it outside of me, madwoffen and a friend of mine. BTW, I'm not even sure if there is any nation that has dutch-speaking militia outside of the Netherlands.
Belgian militia speak french, thats for sure.

I've got a brittish accent. After all, I grew up in england. Newcastle upon Tyne to be exact, its one of the more dirty english accents (gordish, if any locals have heard of it).
But I guess it has the same sort of problem as crowze, the accent tends a little to scottish pronounciations of some syllables, but with enough oxford blended in enough to sound like your everyday football hooligan. Great, now we need a baseball-bat and throwable rocks to accompany my brittish. :D

Anyway, anyone with a bit common sense will simply KNOW that the text in the box will still be english, so thats not even slightly an issue ;)

Could you post a few samples of you saying a few INF phrases in different accents? Thanks.

I'm talking about different languages, not accents!

Hmmm... Well I think the more the merrier personally. I mean we can do a large 10 voice/language pack that might run around 10 MB. Im not sure what quality they used when recording but each voice pack should not be more than 1 MB when you record it. Make sure you do all the proper commands, Go, GoGoGo, Move, Contact, etc..

Anyone who wants to contribute a language pack is more than welcome as long as you have a good understanding of the language and a decent voice.

Aww, don't put yourself down, comandore, you sound fine. At least, I hope that was Roger Wilco static. ;) :D

Well, if we can get some voice actors, I'd be happy to help with any bits of coding that is needed. It seems we have Comandore up on this, and we can probably convince DamienW to do an French one. Who else has a mic and natively speaks a language other than english?

Just a small note. Remember to use low quality when recording the voices. After all, we want it to sound like it's coming through a radio, right? We recorded some voices for one of the maps incase the mapper wanted to use them for a spesific feature in his map. High quality recording sounded VERY out of place :)

I can do German, but I fear I sound really gay.

EDIT: It would also be helpful if someone who was in the German Bundeswehr could give some hints on the correct words to be used, e.g. whether it's 'Kontakt' or 'Feind gesichtet' or whatever else.

thats how i would do it:

aknowledged- jawohl
area clear- gebiet gesichert
cease fire- feuer einstellen!
clear- ?
contact- feindkontakt / feind gesichtet
fall back- zurückfallen
frag out- granate
friendly fire- pass doch auf!
go- los
gogogo- mach endlich!
hold this position- stellung halten
man down- ?
move- bewegung!
need some backup- brauche verstärkung
need some backup now- ?
tango down- hab ihn
wach your fire- pass auf!
weapon dry- ich habe keine mun mehr!

Ok what I really need is two different german speaking people, and 2 french speaking people. Voice doesnt really matter (unless you truely sound like a girl). If you are interested in helping please PM me. Thanks.

The first voice pack I am going to release will contain the following languages:

German
French
Spanish

After this is released I will be working on making another voicepack containing the following accents but spoken in English:

Russian
Arab
Spanish
Chinese

Crowze

Presumably in a combat situation that might get shortened to 'schieße' :)
I'll ask Midwinter (Spanish) and Rasalom (Brazilian) if they're willing to do some voice acting for this. And if course I'm up for doing a British one, although I'm probably not the best candidate to do this (especially since I've currently got a cold). Tiffy maybe? :)

EDIT: I'd also say that the sounds should be recorded at as high quality as possible. It's easy to reduce the quality later on, but not half as easy to increase it if needed.
