Infiltration 2.9 Online - a dissapointing Experience?

  • Two Factor Authentication is now available on BeyondUnreal Forums. To configure it, visit your Profile and look for the "Two Step Verification" option on the left side. We can send codes via email (may be slower) or you can set up any TOTP Authenticator app on your phone (Authy, Google Authenticator, etc) to deliver codes. It is highly recommended that you configure this to keep your account safe.

*idea* I just was on the toilet and had an Idea. Yay me.

It would be very interesting how this Download forwarding works.

IF it works in such a way that it redirects incoming port 80/http requests to another Server transparently and directly, while that other Server then opens the back-channel to the requesting Host (me) then i think i know what is causing those problems.

My firewall's NAT algorithm will not let it in. It will only allow the back-channel to be opened from the Host that was requested to open one.

This theory seems to fit well.

If you do not know wheter that is how DL redirection operates i can run some low-level tests.

I am not 100% sure but I believe that to be the case.

A quick and easy way would be to remove your firewall (or make your PC a DMZ if you have that option), connect to GD server, and see if you get files.

oh, odie, ever consider having public training. for newbs and people who want help.
you can cut out the nonsence by having everyone with the god mod cheat enabled.

does GD still enforce the age limit thing for joining?

That is an idea but I am just about to lose the training server PC (needed for work related stuff). Also, that PC pretty much suxed if more than 8 people got on (lagged real bad).

As for the GD question, please visit http://ghostdogs.net/bb/ and register. That is the better place for your question. But in short, yes and no but we can pick up this topic in more detail over there. ;)

Friday is EAS night. I'll jump on {GD} and play with Bartjevic until others show up. ;)

Unless nobody shows up....then I'll just go to sleep... :(

Good news, I added some Bots for UN17 last night. So if you are by yourself you will have a 3vs3 till someone shows up.

I have movie night with the wife but should be on after that (later in the night).

I enjoyed a good two hours alone on GD with the 5 bots, thanks Odie. I'd recommend keeping it at min 6 players. EAS is about teams anyways, not 1v1. So in those cases when there are only 3 people playing, at least they can have a 3 vs 3 bots or similar scenario.

That sound like a great idea! I rather get my ass kicked in clan training than not playing EAS at all!

On a sidenote: Is their any teamspeak like com-tool that lets you autojoin the right team (even after switching) this could do miracles to public gameplay

In order to try without a firewall i'd have to rewire stuff around here. Maybe i'll do it maybe not..

The Log doesnt give anything else useful but "recv() failed".

As can be seen in the tcpdump log, my UT Client initiates a connection termination right after the connection is established.. I don't know why it would do that. It is probably a UT http netcode Linux port problem.

Oh, so you think the *client* is dropping the connection?

Well as soon as I get my SATA HD working [need power adapter converter] I am going to install a Linux on it. I D/L this Linux version called SuSEgo [I think it is for Linux Noobs like me or Linux for Dummys]. Then I'll have to find UT for Linux somewhere.... I am sure it will be weeks before I get it up and running and figured out but I have always wanted to try it out and play with it.

Well I am currently running Suse Linux. Was not to hard to install, however updating the ATI driver was not fun at all. Darn thing was all command prompt driven! I guess it worked since I have my 1600x1200 res.

Now to find UT for Linux some where. I am D/L AAO for Linux but I am not sure what to do with a bin file (must search Suse Help). :(

Download "ut-install-436.run" from http://www.3dgamers.com/games/unrealtourn/ .
Then make this file executeable (e.g. open console and type "chmod u+x ut-install-436.run" or add the exact path if necesary e.g. ~/ut-install... or /home/odi/ut-instal ... (the ~ should be enough if this file is located in your home directory)).
Insert your UT CD (1) and mount it. Now execute the downloaded file (e.g. console "./ut-install-436.run" if you are in the folder with the dl File).
A simple "ut" in console should be enough to start UT, but it should also appear in the menus/games - depending on the window-manager you are using (KDE i guess).

im running rune multiplayer on a network containing a redhat, suse and a few windows pcs using wine. ut should work this way too, but you might not get full performance (though rune is doing quite good for me). it a pitty is so hard to get linux ports since loki games is no more.

ps: what mat posted is ment to make utwin runable for linux.
