Nukeproof I am not sure what you mean by non-static. I assume it is moving vegitation, swaying of grass. With UT2K4 you can paint grass and other meshes directly on the terrain.

I was refering to bushes, trees & grass that are swinging/moving (like wind effects in Farcry).

Now if anything is moving its a soldier (or a rabbit on cymrus ;) ) - unlike fc where every single plant is slightly moving... quite scary in the dark and adding a lot to athmosphere

But its quite possible I am confusing something concerning 3d technics ;)

You can also check out the trees in Dullrocks][ ;) .
But as mentionned before, if you want amazing vegetation you gotta go for farcry's engine. And here we go again about the next engine discussion...

There are two ways that I am aware of that you can use to make moving vegetation:
1: oscillating textures (seems to be the prefferred way)
2: Animated meshes (both skeletal or the old vertex animated meshes)

It seems to me that the texture method is better performance wise because you can use the same static mesh (saves video mem.) and the recalculations each frame apply to the texture as opposed to every vertex in the mesh (most maps included in UT2k4 use this method). A map, IIRC, that uses animated meshes for brush is that large outdoor CTF map with the two castles in the CBP1 for ut2003 (should be compatible with 2k4). The thing that really seems to kill performance in vegetation is when map authors use textures that contain alpha layers, as opposed to simply setting the texture to bMasked. All of the alpha drawing slows down performance big time.

I sympathize with those who can't (until recently, that was me too), but at least a few of AngelHeart's maps are in fact quite playable, and crying out for INF.

DM-Urotsukidoji is a fine example IMO

His recent release of DM-Blackhawk inspired me to once again pull out the old INF discs and fire up some of his older maps and revisit them (and also visit this forum).

Doesn't matter to me how long it's been, I'm just as ready to play INF in UT2004 now as I was last year. If the plan is to bring it on, then my plan is to play. :)

I believe that Beppo is secretly already well near a beta release. So lets be a bit more positive towards Sentry.
