No really, I think the advise about playing other servers is good.

Often times I don't seem to do anything in myunreal, I go to some server I'm not familiar with and I own. We got our butt kicked repeatedly in a match so I went to myunreal and didn't do well and felt like a big loser. So I went to another server I didn't know. It had 18 people or so in it and I totally owned it. The other teams players said I was some 'clan dickweed' they were so mad at me. I took it as a compliment and felt a little guilty at the same time.

On the other hand,....most of the time I don't really care about points or owning other players. It is always better to help the team, maybe avoid fights, get energy, hack deploys, or guard an important position. Sure I would like to be able to win every duel but at my age that is unlikely to happen.

Often times when I play in myunreal I just 'go out looking for fights'. That way I will better my dueling skills. But 'going out looking for a fight' is definitely NOT the best way to win this game as a team.

Stick with it. Don't give up. You can't go through life giving up on everything that you are not the best at.

By the way 'thebigguy' is getting better......he will be as good as me b4 long IF HE DOESN"T QUIT!

Exactly I started out as 'Oh_duh' because I felt that best described my play.

Then I realized that I needed an attitude adjustment and bla bla bling I became 'Tenacity'.... the never give up kinda guy.

It's not about who has the best aim or who has the best moves it's about having fun. Of course it's funnier to kill than get killed, but getting killed is part of the game too.
I dont know how im supposed to say this but just try to play as good as you can no one is expecting you to do more than that and of course there will be frustrating situations when even your best effort doesn't help your team at all but again its just part of the game.
There will always be someone better than you even if you play like 8hrs a day. Some people just has 'the gift' and some people just try to hang on and try do their best.
Anyway it's always sad to hear that a fellow XMP player is quitting the game.
I hope you enjoyed the game at least as much as I do.

I am nto the best player, but i can help you learn tactics, since i have the most fun just going out and surprising the enemy... anyways i play on myunreal a lot, and i, like others, get a poor score a lot, but i have fun, because the people are generallly nice, as long as u do not take the game seriosly.

I know ur type very well.... after all if your not good at dodging, u becaome a red pulp blowing everywhere... anyways it is good to knw that others do what i do when i cannot get a raptor... I do an arti run and start peckin off their deffenders... usually after i kill five defenders, i get snipped...

When I first played I had a Geforce 3, and I could see the potential of XMP, but I knew there would be no way to really own with the ranger, and in fact with many of the classes until I upgraded.

So I got a Radeon 9800 Pro for $400CDn and that was a "good deal" at the time.

It made all the difference.

Now I still play at 1024, but maxed grafix and super smooth framerate. It really makes the difference and adds to my enjoyment easily 5-fold.

Also I was arti player for a while, till I hit a plateau with it, so I went to mid field support for a bit. Being the agent that lets your team play well is very satisfying. Oh ya, and I still cap artis from time to time when needed.

Ahhh... hmmm... it surely wouldnt hurt if u get urself an AGP ATI 9600 graphics card (at least... but those are cheap and do alot!). Sure better one, newest geforce or newer ATI's are better. Its worth it... for you THATS the upgrade to do... new graphics card. U'll love it... not just for XMP. And even with kickass systems i know many players still play at lower quality settings since the XMP game engine aint that 'clean'.

Whats ur avaradge FPS (frames per seconds) that u got while playing? U'll need at least 20 and for being the best ranger make that 30 or more!

Note that FPS can mean 2 things:
FPS=frames per second
FPS=first person shooter

Oh u can measure the speed of ur graphics with this console command... no way let me give u a few keybinds to use:
(put these in your Myuser.ini or user.ini file)
F5=Stat fps
F6=Stat net
F7=SendEvent ToggleNetStats

and these u can use as well:

F10=Suicide | say ^#ūSuicide ^#Ğ// Cancel... good for those "i give up moments"

F12=Quit // For the next time u dun wanna play anymore... fastest way to go back to ur desktop


Now i have to say... when i play another game... like far cry or xiii or quake3 based engine... or even UT2k4 and i go back to XMP i feel like "bah... everything stutters here". It just aint ALL that with XMP... the gameplay just AINT as smooth as it should be. One has to 'learn' or 'adjust' to that...

Im runnin an amd xp2200 (1.8 ghz) with a geforce4 ti4200 (the lower one) and I get great fps at decently high detail. Only time I really see stutter is when I'm in a duel of flame-gunnage or 5+ people decide to throw smoke down. I just dont play rangers often cuz I cant aim for poo. Well that and I've played fps/flying games with my mouse inverted since I started playing them. I took a major break from them for bout 6 months... (well thats a major break for ME) and have now started "re-training" myself to use it without the invert. Not doing too bad but still need some practicimo

killer your a good player take a week off i get PISSED at his game to its just like tribes was for me fun as hell but also frsutraging

play some defence as a gunner or tech you did good in myu helping me out a few times could alwase use a gunner on d at the node if nothing else you can sup a tech thats putting up his node defence farm (me on certen maps) or u can put up defences with a tech
mines are also a big part of defence set them in the proper places and you can take out the enimy b4 they get to ur base (raptors and mines=BOOOM)

look at my scores most of the time i have a low score dosnt mean i didnt help the team and kick some ass (and get mine kicked OVER AND OVER AND OVER AND OVER)

score=nothing the way you play and help the team dose

hell i wish you had been in game last night could have used some back up on my team or at least a player that would listen we had 11 people 2 games in a row and we couldnt hold energy period hell i went out and took back 3 gens insted of defend when we about lost from lack of energy (grummbles)

A week off sounds refreshing. I tried it again playing xmp in a group of 10 or so people and did good leaping to get energy/deploys/killing people i kept seeing who was running at me or who had an arti or i'd leave them run and continue what i was doing, snagging arti's. Got 3k most of the games which lasted 5-12 minutes untill i got outa focus and mad so i left (i do better when nobody knows me). A week off i'll try. About the Athlon, i'm not sure if i'm gonna get that or a different type and i will soon, i hate when i try and hit someone only to have the shot not effect them when i nail them head on.

Edit- Oh and i don't go into myu much anymore, i usually am in the jolt 1 server so i might be a bit rusty if i go back to myu indef. Now let's let this thread die, it's lasted long enough.

Killer, I have almost identical system specs as you apart from a 9600 XT Rad card which has made all the difference, I dont do to badly with my crappy setup.
Dont beat yourself up for not being the best, I love getting an ass whopping from Kaio/Asuka/Slow and the rest of the 1337. Makes us a better 'team'. Notice how 'team' is the operative word.
