Just to shed some light on the media situation in the US. The mass media--which is controlled mainly by pro-abortion, anti-gun liberals--takes every chance they get to demonize the tool of a crime and to characterize the criminal mind as a sickness. They pretend to analyze every situation and blame these violent crimes on any type of influence, from movies, videogames, to bad parenting. In case you foreigners don't know, these same "Liberals" are against smoking, big business (ie: Microsoft), and basically believe that the government should have it's finger in every aspect of human life. They've even been trying to give animals the right to sue people.
The liberal media dramatizes every crime committed and emphasizes crimes committed with guns as opposed to any other crimes, because it serves their cause to eventually create a "utopian" police state where everyone is dependant on the government for employment and where everyone is equal.
I'll tell you one thing. Everyone is NOT equal. Some people are smarter, dumber, etc etc (you could go on and on). Some people have the drive in them to create their dreams, and some people are happy to just sit on their butt and collect funds from the government. That is what makes our society great. If you want to rise to be on of the wealthiest men in the nation, you can. If you don't want to, that's ok too.
And that same point applies to guns. If you are a law abiding citizen, you should be allowed to use a weapon within the limitations that the laws have outlined, whether it be for sport or personal protection. Liberals want the government to be more powerful than the people--a Socialist government, if you will--so obviously they don't want the people to own guns. Only the government would own guns and the people would be at their mercy. Remember the Beijing massacre? It has only taken 200 years to get our country to where it is today. Why is it so hard to fathom that our country might come under attack, or that our government might be sold out to the highest bidder. (ie: Clinton's giving nuke secrets to China for $$$) People always say "It will never happen" until it does.
