how about 40 damage?

It has to be at least more than 25, or the Enforcer would be doing more damage. THAT would make no sense! :D

I think it also shot once every half second. I don't know. If only I still had that game!

Locational damage just seems too time-consuming. But it should at least be able to score headshots. There's locational. :) Goldeneye just had animations for when you shot people in the arm/leg.... I dunno, if you want to add it, go for it. It might be neat :)

What I DO remember is the door/person thing. It could shoot through one door, and no people. Why not people I don't know, after all, it WAS a laser.... I don't see that logic! :) But, true to Goldeneye, it should be the same. Hey I'm getting all nostalgic here :D

can you make the laser shot white and more solid too? short of having to re-do another whole new beam of course. I hope it doesn't come to that.

We also need a decent death message. I hope you don't mess up the %k and %o like someone I know did ;) (BTW: If you're reading this, anyone could do that! :))

I hope it can fire through the doors in the UT Goldeneye maps. All the more nostalgia.... ;)

If you don't have any of them, go to Nalicity and do a search under the DM map section for 007

you should get about 10 maps returned. Temple, SevernayaBunker, Facility and Stack are the four maps I have. If the laser goes through doors/walls there.... oh man, I won't be able to stop playing :D

If it isn't too much trouble, afterwards would you be able to replace the 40 damage variable with 1000? To reflect the "License to Kill" Deathmatch mode (basically Instagib in UT) and if you got a laser you were to be feared.... :D

Locational damage would be incredibly easy to do. How about 30 to the legs, 40 to the torso, and 200 to the head?

I still have it. I have a whole bunch o' video games. Well over 100 (not just N64, though).

So do you want me to make it shoot through one wall, and that's it? I think I'll make it a decent thickness, though, because some doors can be kinda thick.

It'd be easy to make the beam like that. I've been planning on using the pulse gun beam with a new texture that's just a solid light blue.

That's a pretty good death message. I may take a bit of creative liberty with it, though. :)

I shall look there for some maps. I've always liked stack.

Do you mean the 1000 damage one to be a seperate mutator?

1000 damage in a separate mutator: Good idea. I never even thought of that. I like it. :) You could even call it Licensed to Kill maybe.

One wall/door of decent thickness, and that's it. Not players. (again, why, in GE, you could not fire through players is beyond me, but still....)

What's the range of the laser going to be?

As long as the beam looks solid and not jagged, or with the dancing bits at the end of the Pulse beam when you hold the alt, it sounds good.

You can make the death message what you want, just put it here before you implement it. No offense, but I don't want it spelled wrong like a certain someone who made another weapon did ;) (Oh I'm only ribbing ya! The weapon works fine! :D)

Here is the weapon in question, if you're curious. I came up with the idea. All coding/other credit goes to Sonic, who I don't think reads here, but just in case he does: You know I'm only joking with ya :D

summon blastrif.blastrif that is the only way it is available. When you kill someone with a primary or a direct secondary (ie the shockwave detonates on a pawn) check the deathmessage. Please don't do THAT with the Moonraker. ;)

Should the Licensed to Kill mutator just be an instant kill laser arena?

Of course it won't be jagged! I said I'd make a new texture! One that's nice an solid! An' pretty!

I think I'm gonna make the skin for the first person view of the gun, now. Then I'll do the second and third person views. One problem though: I don't know how to make the muzzle flash (not the light, the sprite that appears at the end of the muzzle), so it won't be as pretty when you fire. Poop...

I got those maps. They were pretty fun, but stack, temple, and complex were too dark, and I didn't like the textures for the complex at all.

Range of the laser: I mean how far can you shoot with it before the shot does nothing? The UT sniper rifle can fire to a distance of 10,000 units, anything bigger than that and your shot just will not hit the guy. I was wondering what the limit will be on this.

Yeah, instant kill arena. Instagib without the shock rifle, it's just a laser instead... Hmm, after putting it THAT way.... it doesn't sound as good. Maybe scrap that? now it just sounds like IG... :(

New texture: d'oh!... I blame it on the time of night. :)

Yeah most of those maps are neat, specifically the four I kept, but the Complex, IMO he screwed up. I woulda settled for dull gray! As it is, it looks like either someone threw up, or a clown got a stick of dynamite shoved up his ass. Either way it sucks.

It won't be as pretty when I shoot? awww.... darn. Maybe Kangus can donate a couple minutes of time to it? :)

I never pay attention to the range, really. Most of the weapons go really far, so far that you usually can't tell that they end anywhere. It'll be the same range as whatever I I modify the trace functions from.

Well, it wouldn't gib, just kill instantly. Plus, they'd shoot through walls, have a higher rate of fire, and be a nifty laser, rather than the same ol' shock rifle!

Yes, the textures in complex are just poopy. I liked bunker. It looked the most like the GE one. Only it didn't have any music. Maybe I forgot to unzip the music if it had one, or something?

It won't be a large decrease in prettiness. I just don't know how that muzzle flash sprite is handled.

Here be the skinned laser. A few pieces will be shiny in game (they're just grey here). Notice the three good pieces of the skin (the hole in the scope, the holes in the thingy supporting the scope, and the grill. Then note the ugly other pieces. I might improve them a bit, but don't expect much, I'm not a skinner... But there is a good side! It's only 1 (one) 256x256 skin! That, coupled with its low poly count, make this a very system-happy model!

Will the grill be pink like that in the game? In the GE one I think you could see through it, not like it mattered much but still. I dunno. Besides, pink = ugly :)

That sounds like a better idea for Licensed to Kill. Bring on the frag counts! :D

It'll shoot far? Good. As long as I can hit people with it from the tower on Face to the enemy base (I shock-snipe from time to time, and hey, that rhymes) from the sniper post in blue base to the walls/caverns on Lavagiant, and from the cliff to any point on DM-ArizA][ it's good. :)

For not being a skinner, that l'il guy looks pretty neat :)

You really don't know anything, do you? Of course it won't be pink!

And Sasuke wasn't very difficult to skin. I mean, he's made up mainly of solid colors. I don't know if I'll ever end up doing anything with that Sasuke model, but it's still cool. What's more important is the laser skin. Do you actually think it looks okay? Even if you do, I'm still gonna maybe lighten it a bit, and add a little tiny bit of shading to it. How's that sound?

I don't know anything about modelling/coding/anyhing like that for UT. Hell, with my skill I can barely even play :D

Yeah, that looks fine to me. Tweak what you like though :)

Right now, with how tired I am yet my inability to sleep, less is more, so I'll leave it at that for now. :D

I'm a bit offended by that, but I will take it that you meant it as a harmless question and not a barb.

I know what's fun and what works: I reviewed U4E 602 patch and other things. We don't exactly break things down to what it's made of. If it is fun and is clean, polished and works well, it will get a good score, as the author took his time on it and wanted to get it right. If it's filled with bugs, looks like crap and sucks, obviously the author slapped it together haphazardly, or it's an alpha/prerelease of some sort.

What I should have said (lack of sleep again, I blame) is:

"I don't understand modelling or coding, but I know what is done well and what isn't."

:)

Tweak what you will, but you should "Tw33k" it... ;)

I dunno, it looked fine to e. As long as there's not a bunch of misalignments and BSP errors in it, or any number of other huge screw-ups, it looked great when you showed me the preview.

ASIDE FROM THE PINK GRILL ;) :D (just kidding, I know now :p)

It's all skinned now! Now that it's fully skinned, I'm actually quite pleased with it. I did have to add another 128x64 texture, but that's still pretty few. Now, I just have to add one bone, make 3 animations (select, down, and still), and make a third person version for the pickup and the third person gun that people hold. I'm sure glad the skinning's done, though. :) I actually took the new metalic texture used on the barrel from a flamethrower model I once made for TFC.
