By the way, if ure planning on getting a 9600pro, bear in mind that the pro-ez version is worse than normal pro. A list (in order of general goodness) :

--Good
9600xt
9600pro
9600pro-ez
9600
9600se
9600se-ez
--Bad
How worse?

Really?

Solid Squall said that "ATI is rubbish." I don't whether to agree or not. My brother says nVidia f***ed up their cards, but what about ATI? Is there a difference between their cards? Should I just get the one that's cheaper?

Bah! It's coke and pepsi. People who like the brand they use will attack the other brand with no justification. INVIDIA tends to run better in OpenGL, ATI tends to run better for DirectX. ATI updates their drivers every month, with nice customization control panels. Many card makers provide overclocking utilities.

Considering the 9600 PRO is an "EZ" (why do they need to keep adding suffixes?), I'd consider the 9800, but overall, they perform about the same. I'm in a similar situation, deciding which new card to buy. I'm torn between a 9600 XT or 9800 (non SE). If I could find a 9700 or 9500, I would probably buy one. They are both better than the 9600.

Too many products!!!!

YES!!! I take back what I said about ATI having crap drivers because farcry and halo seemed to have been crashing because I was running 2 or 3 drivers at the same time. I never knew you had to unintall the old drivers and control panel. I have installed catalyst version 4.6 after uninstalling all the old drivers and now it works perfectly.
ATI is teh best11!!1 w00t1!!!1

I personally got Sapphire Radeon 9600 Pro Atlantis, runs UT2004 on max details,DX9 renderer device and DX9 toggled on without lag. :), also runs FarCry without lag on max details.

I could be very wrong about this, but i read somewhere that 256MB on a 9600 series is a little wasted because it doesn't run the games requiring that much video memory all that well anyway (partly to do with only having 4 pixel shaders).

I would assume that this is less relevent on the 9800 series which does have the raw power necessary.
