Maybe he'd been planning it all along, maybe he'd been gently, evolving her families gene pool up untill her to prepare her to carry such a child.

Also it's worth remembering that jesus and god are, in part, the same thing, i don't think god could've built another adam and dumped himself in it. More like be born into his creation.

Also wouldn't it rather ruin the point of creating eve and adam if he started making christs and bob and brians and throwing them down? Surely he could just dump the whole reproductive system? He could just become a man manufacturing factory after all?

Nope because the whole thing is bull****.

Because i'm trying to fathom why people mould their lives and the way they live on the ramblings on a moldy old book written before science and modern language.

A book that was translated from dead languages into other languages into other into other into others, with people in power adding and subtracting sections as they see fit with every new rendition.

You're not trying to fathom anything. You're being rude, obnoxious, and just plain stupid. All I can see here is that you're taking the piss out on this subject, and it's pretty lame.

Exit's this way.

Why does America filter its laws through the Constitution? Because if something was written in the past, it must be obsolete, right? The Supreme Court Building itself is adorned with the images of lawgivers of antiquity: Menes, Hammurabi, Moses, Solomon, Lycurgus, Solon, Draco, Confucius and Octavian are all on the south wall, and all of them lived before the time of Jesus (for the sake of complete disclosure, the 9 figures on the north wall, Justinian, Mohammed, Charlemagne, King John, Louis IX, Hugo Grotius, Sir William Blackstone, John Marshall and Napoleon, were all born AD). Why does the US so honor the memories of these people who lived thousands of years ago and therefore are automagically irrelevant figures in Magneticheadland?

Not a game of telephone. I think this has to be the fourth time I've had to say it in this thread alone. This premise has zero basis in fact.

If it teaches them to be good citizens, family oriented people and not retards like yourself, I don't see what is wrong with it.

It teaches them how to be good citizens by insiting fear and the promise of eternal punishment in those who dare to challenege the status quo.

I'd hate to know how you;d feel if I told you I sleep with men OMG SHOCKS HORROR!

Like what, for example?

I probably wouldn't care, much like I don't right now. The bible doesn't teach me to give a crap about what YOU do, it teaches me to give a crap about what I do.

Likewise, why do you give a crap what I do? If I want to follow what the Bible teaches, what do you care? Is it affecting you some way?

Well there was kinda this thing called Hell...

Why do I care what you do? because youre my fellow man, you are my brother. It pains me to see your life controlled by old ideas and aesop's fables.

I hate to see other people with so much potential still fearing the boogieman.

I suggest YOU read up on the history of the Bible. Or one of the other posts here where I very clearly pointed out the fallacies in this line of thinking.

You forgot the part where he took that punishment in our place so we don't have to worry about it.

Mr.Magnetichead: I'm not a Christian, but I can tell you that not all Christians proclaim to follow the Bible for "fire insurance" or fear of the devil. Some have examined its teachings and found they agreed with them or that they're nice ideas they should aspire to. If it's not a proselytiser's place to denounce whatever beliefs you hold and push Christian ones on you, it's not yours to ridicule those of Christians and push your own as more truthful/realistic/whatever.

Don't let your desire for ending ignorance move into the craphole of promoting intolerance. Spiritual experiences are personal and unique, and not up to the regulation of one person's own truth or the truth of an institution.

Then take the message to your heart and toss away the hokum.
What difference does it make if someone wants to belong in religion/have religous ideals/identify with a religous group?

I really just don't see how it affects you one way or the other what they believe. Maybe they do believe in Hell and belong to religion because of that...but what do you care? If you don't believe there are NEGATIVE repercussions for belonging to religion (which your only negative affect seems to be that they are sheep, which isn't really much of an affect) then what is your reasoning for trying to detract people from it?

As far as that is concerned, maybe they just really want to get into the highest heaven and be with God forever, and they are covering all of their bases by belonging to a certain religous sect. What would you have to say about that? Recognizing that you CANNOT prescribe your OWN PERSONAL religous beliefs to every single human in existence everywhere, like you seem to believe you can, of course.
