DTAS Gametype?

  • Two Factor Authentication is now available on BeyondUnreal Forums. To configure it, visit your Profile and look for the "Two Step Verification" option on the left side. crowze, can you add a command that will tell the status (attack/defend) like the old dtas had.
dont remember the exact line but i bound it to a key and when i pressed it , it would say something like 'You are defending.' ..

or is there already such a command? its 2 am and im very tired so i may have missed it in the readme

The DTAS BETA server is up. I have not played it yet, but it is there. The IP is:

There is no password.

Issues so far (I will add bugs to this post via edit):

Bots get into infinate loop of Acknowledge messages after I approach the flag and get within the radius. I see no visible message coming from me in the console.

After the attack round ends...just before the new map loads, I get a message that says "Defend Your Position" but the new map then loads and I attack again. I never get to defend.

By default, your load includes no Bots. If I add bots via the Web Interface and then apply the template (TeamGame) and restart the map, I revert to a regualr teamgame. Maybe that is expected. If so, should the be a DTAS template created?

Where does it get its maplist? I have tried adding a [InfiltrationUT.DTAS_Mapplist] section to both the Infiltration.INI file and the INFILDTAS.INI file. It still seems stuck on Atoll.

Edited my post for clarity ;)

Anyway, I think it would add a bit of strategy to the game. The defenders could place it anywhere. And it would make the "defense zone" a bit more believable. Moreover, a few maps already have M2HB and a smart defender could place the flag near them already. Just make the M2HB a little less effective and it could work :)

Old bug from original DTAS. I'll start trawling through Yurch's code and see what I can do.

That's the one round per match issue. I've yet to have any feedback on it.
EDIT: Fixed it, just need to get the number of rounds back on the scoreboard now.

Uh, not quite sure about this one. Try making a DTAS template anyway.

The maplist can be found in InfilDTAS.ini under [InfilDTAS.DTAS_MapList] - I'm probably going to change it so some of the ini settings are in Infiltration.ini like the other gametypes, and the more complex settings are in InfilDTAS.ini.

I found the same bugs as shan so no need to repeat.
Comments : i don't really like the distance to flag being displayed on the compass at all times. If you're gonna leave the flag invisible i guess you should keep it this way, because without visual contact it's hard locating it. Anyway, what i wouldn't want is have both the flag visible and the distance from flag displayed in the hud, it would be too much information, spoils the fun ;) . I like when you have to press a key to know the distance to the objective, it simulates you looking at a map or a gps device.
Also, it'd be cool to have a message sent at the begginning of the round to remind the flag planter he is the one planting the flag (i myself often tend to forget).
Sorry to bother you with so many suggestions, but i figured better tell you while you're at it. :D

OK, beta 2 available here. Not many changes: most ini settings are in Infiltration.ini now, and the one-round bug is fixed. Set Rounds=X in Infiltration.ini under [InfilDTAS.InfilDTAS]. Should be playable - I'll work on fixing minor bugs and adding new features now.

Beppo, you don't make it easy to add new game types, you know that? :p

Great! I will update the version running on the server to the new one tonight. Do I have to worry about version mismatches or anything?

And thanks again Crowze. This is going to be awesome. I may rename my server the Crowze DTAS server in recognition of your heroic efforts. ;)

Beta 2 great :)

Crowze, i played a game against bots just now.
When we won the match it said 'ZEEP won the match' , or 'ZEEP wins' or something similar. I don't like that so much. Dtas is more about teamplay than to see who has the most kills imo.
I'm afraid that rewarding the most kills most new players won't teamplay but go run and gun.
Maybe -if you insist on having that- you can make it a server setting.
Which brings me to my next question, can i turn it off?

shan: You shouldn't, unless the clients decided they should install it and not download it from your server.

Zeep: I know. I fully expected it to be the same as INF - Team Game, but alas... (hence my comment to Beppo above). It also doesn't display the number of rounds won on the HUD, again for unknown reasons. It's strange in the way the number of rounds is set up though - it's set in the main inf mutator, not in the gametype itself, which is a bit of a problem.

Shan, what time exactly do you update the server? (GMT time please).
Since its 19:25 ATM here, and I'm quite tired, cleaned up a piece of the barn and dang thats exhausting, I plan to stop my INF activities at around 21:30 and go to bed early today.
Could you upload beta2 in time? :)

Is it just me or is gamesnet IRC server down?
