Draganov, m4, Sig 226,

I would like to say the big weapons like the berrets and these huge weapons I don't think we need that. I really like the way the mod looks right now but I'd like to see the half completed weapons done, espeically the m4, maybe one more sniper riffle like a draganov, and one more hand gun like a sig 226 but thats it after that i think we need more maps, sniper friendly maps Give me some feed back I'm totally down to hear about what you guys think

The only "big rifle" currently in Infiltration is the Robar RC-50, and they're unlikely to add any other anti-material rifles. Especially not a semiautomatic one like the Barrett M82; even with bulk and barrel collision limiting its effectiveness, an M82 would be ridiculously uber and nearly impossible to balance without compromising realism.

Oh, and it's Dragunov SVD, not "Draganov". I'm a picky speller.

I'm in a hurry, 3 quick tips:
1) SEARCH
2) if you want to know what the community thinks about certain weapons, ask it in general if you want to know how it would be like in game or in off topic if you want to know about the weapon in real life.
3) if you do post in new version suggestions, try to give as many pro's and cons yourself. Just spouting out an idea and letting others talk about it is not the right way to start a thread.

If you want more sniper friendly maps try Twin Bridges or Bunkers. You should be able to find them on Real Maps.

Another automatic sniper rifle which fires a round so similar to the PSG really wouldn't be a helpfull addition. It'd be basically the same but with different skin. It'd be an awfull lot of work for not much gameplay improvment. You'd need to have a weapon that really "spiced" up gameplay but wouldn't unbalnce it. With the PSG being a one shot kill weapon (at least it seems to be against the bots with full armor on) it seems the only "gap" in weapon selection would be something Lighter than the PSG that would be balanced by either being weak, or by being bolt action similar to the robar. So if your going to throw out suggestions do some research first... For example

The lightest bolt action (that i could find) chambered in 7.62 Nato is the Steyr-Mannlicher SSG-69, which is a military/police/commerical sniper rifle that was offered with a special short barrel, and could be fited with a supressor and fired from a 5 or 10 round mag. It's slightly heavier than the Famas (in it's standard length form, not sure about the shorter barrel version).

Now that's not to say i'm suggesting that it as a New weapon request, i'm just saying that with a little research you could have some information to back up a suggestion.. other wise it just sounds like your saying "i want this because i think it's cool" which as i'm sure you've noticed doesn't go over very well around here.

The SVD while being a decent "sniper" rifle is not that good a "precision" rifle. The above mentioned Steyr product is by far superior. The SVD does look "neat", but it's role is well filled by the PSG 1 in my opinion..

The M-4/XM177E2/GAU-5 or whatever it turns out to be, I could live without. Is a short M-16 that exciting?

Why a SiG 226? The M-9 works fine in this application. Why not something really bizarre, like a Chicom Type 64, or maybe the truly strange MBA Gyrojet..

It IS that good. Only if it´s russian and looks like AK it doesn`t mean it´s crappy on distance and is for throwing in mud only. It has a full rifle round (7.62x54), the barrel is very long and the scope is a real scope, not the AK sight. So it´s very precision (and looks cool ).

which is really quite technically innacurate in "precision" terms. AFAIK the Russians have now got themselves a proper bolt action sniper's rifle.

The SSG is nice but I still favour an Accuracy International of some sort.

The Dragunov was never intended to be a sniper rifle; it's a marksman's rifle issued to selected front-line infantry with above-average shooting skills (which is why it has a bayonet) to provide regular light-infantry forces with a medium-range precision-fire capability. The U.S. Marine Corps has been considering doing the same thing by re-adopting the M14 as a Designated Marksman's Rifle.

Huh? The 226 is a damn fine full frame 9mm pistol. I'd definitely buy one if I didn't already have a 228.

And also, Bunkers as a sniper map? That makes me chuckle. Damned thing is so small. I'd always end up doing much better trying to do CQB in the trenches and getting shot in the back when I tried to snipe. Of course, I only played this map in 1 on 1 against a die hard Rogue Spear fan to get him to play, which was pretty much the reason I made it.

When I used to play it on the public servers it was vanilla 2.86, so of course it was usually 12-20 players and everyone would start out strafing and dodging around behind the windows and buildings picking eachother off with Robars, then they would whip out their MP5's and AKMSU's and broom the trenches once the dust settled. Occasionally, people would charge the trenches early, but then it was more a matter of sniping them off quick before they got within spraying range rather than trying to spray them back.

Psychomorph-*Shrugs* One post claimed two MOA. That's about right. A well maintained M1903 will do that with iron sights, and M2 ball. A GOOD precision rifle, such as the PSG-1 will do sub MOA groups with decent ammo, and I'd bet MOA with service ball.

The SVD is not a precision rifle. It's a front line issue harassment, and interdiction weapon. I never said it was "Crappy", just not what it's advertised as. You want a NEAT combloc weapon ? Try a PKM, or a Stechkin APS. THOSE are impressive. The SVD was a much hyped disappointment in my experience.

This section of the forum is nothing but a resort for the newer guys to gain their bad first impressions, and for anyone who had a bad day or a grumpy mood and is seeking to get rid of his anger.

Seriously, either put it in red or some other bright colour in the short description of the section when you're in the root infiltration forum, that weapon suggestions are forbidden by punishment of locking, on repeated felony's RO and anal abuse.

And That M14 DMR system saw/ is seeing action is Afghanistan i believe. Whether on a test basis or not i'm not sure. I got some pics of it.

Lol right, that´s why I finnished with all my Ideas in this Forum. Th Devs. definitely read those posts, but they just pick up what is interessting to them (it is their good right), but it makes no longer any sense for me to spend my expensive time for suggestions which nobody cares about.
INF should be like the Devs. whant to have it, no matter if I like some things, or not. If I´ll have the chance to be in a Mod team, I will use my genious ideas, muahahah.

Wow, never saw an M14 with a pistolgrip, looks very fine. Anyway, the M14 is one of the most good looking guns (like those old, woodisch guns).
