Because of a piece of information I received from a certain developer, I was able to see a plan document for the level pack for Unreal, dating back to August/September 1997.
It was set with the premise that the Skaarj queen is dead and as aftermath new factions of Skaarj evolve/split up and also fight each other.
The player this time around could also choose to play as a skaarj in singleplayer, having skaarj exclusive weapons as well, and there are also rebel skaarjs/former prisoners who are not hostile to Nali apparently(ONP friendly skaarj anyone?). No you weren't supposed to be the prisoner from the main game anymore in the level pack to begin with.
There were also planned to be hostile nali with cities underground who are split from their religious cousins(Unreal PSX anyone? In the third episode there are few levels with atheist Nali who are hostile to you and use various scrapped technology and even build their own ships, not to mention in the Unreal book there is something similar except they fight alongside the humans).
The Mercs start a full scale war against the Skaarj during the events of level pack as well and one should be able to find out more about them.
Use of various artifacts integrated into plot(no details about that as its pretty short document/plan). "Changes to already existing levels; different perspective of same area"
One main story with various subplots. For multiplayer players can choose the different races to play and each of them can finish individual goals.
"Semi-linear hub vs. Linear campaign structure." "Replay same areas as different race (different goals, items, time, enemies but same area)"
One could play as mercenary as well apparently. The mercenaries sell weapon to all races because of the war that's going on on the planet. And you could eveb purchase them apparently or that was one of these plans and also get various upgrades etc, more RPG like it seems. New jungle and desert type environments. Addons to existing weapons. More "spacey" environments.
"Swampy, gothic tech, dune/desert adobe, bleak crystal world, rusty underwater, urban ruins." More types of already existing enemies. New level bosses(undecided except few).
Weapon ideas: "new weapons: skaarj claws, graphic ammo changes, effects changes."
"acidic glue/slip:
gun fill glob gun with different colored liquids: different viscosity. Puddles rather than blobs. Upon passing makes character slide or move slowly (climb walls?) or damaging acid eats away(medicinal goop for Multiplay heals friends?)"
"harpoon:if creature is bigger than you it pulls you vice versa? Entanglement?"
"Brainwash/spaz raygun/sonic:mind effecting gun: victim spazzes out / stuns victim momentarily / goes mad / fear gun / rage
/ hallucinagenic gun / loud pitched sound. Disease gun slowly whithers?"
"Double handgun"
"incendiary and energy ammo:
more energy ammo b/c you are skaarj. Flaming chunks. Flamethrowers. Flares."
"(Battery based?) electrical claws:
semi ranged. Cool melee weapon."
"Gib gun:delayed effect of explosion (line of sight necessary?)"
Level specific:
Central hub featuring a floating sky castle, no sky towns/city this time but a castle in the sky. Desert trenches and nali slave camps. Factories, slave cells, citadel.
Across a river to dark swamp areas and pod trees, "ewok like huts and yoda houses" apparently.
Underground and rooty organic caves. In the swamp caves you will have to burn slith eggs and fight sort of a slith queen. Some new swampy creatures would be present too probably.
Advancing into giant upper trees connected by rope bridges.
And then into underwater island palace.
Another area featuring gothic ruins and technology castles. Major war zone happening, including humans you will have to fight(probably largely Inuit Coporation by this point, as they are also antogonists in the books and in the end also in unreal psx)
You have to also kill a skaarj queen larva of the opposite clan and fight another warlord.
Human camp in upper castle ruins, crumbling with stormy sky.
lower layers of castle ruins/tech zone being a mercenary camp.
Lowest crystal mine defending Skaarj (you are supposed to find a "mega weapon" here) and then kill the SKaarj larva.
Then the final level is acesible through the sky castle, giant doors open to a weird technology castle. You must rescue as Skaarj the Queen larva that was stolen from your clan. Final battle with enemy clan queen, but also a second boss fight afterwards or choice if you are not playing as a skaarj or something like that.
And the final boss is in revisited Bounds of Foundry(TOxic) a tarydium infused Britney spears clone with bits of Skaarj DNA who wants to be an ultimate Skaarj EMPRESS and having KAAL as her Warlord.
