can i request someone to make me a crosshair? Not a pack, just one...

You know the "pointer" crosshair in the default ones? It's just the two lines across with the little space in the middle? Can someone make that into a cross? SHouldn't be too hard.. I just don't have the gumption to do it myself. (Hey I'm just being honest!)

I'm patched to 3204, started with 3197, and I've been playing on UTSecure servers with no problem, except for when I try to load up the weapons tab and I get punted for illegal package load.
But just straight up ingame playing, I've never gotten booted

I'm not getting booted...well I am but it's before I get into the game with an "incompatible game files" message.

You're not using the dummy species method are you? If you are, that's the problem.

what? I copied that uc from what you posted on INA and compiled it with WOTgreal. So it auto-generated the .ucl so did I do something wrong with that???

Don't name your project folder the same name as your texture package. If you do you won't be able to join any servers. The server log will show invalid package.

For me to poop on!!!!!!!!!!

Talk about BIG PAIN.

Just go into your ini file and under the xhair name and so forth there is a CustomCrosshairScale = 0.6 (or whatever number you are currently using). Just change that number (higher to make larger) to suit your needs. Mine is set at: CustomCrosshairScale=0.75

:) I changed mine to 3.0

I play at 1600x1200 resolution -- if I don't set them that high, I can barely see them on my screen...

see the post immediately following that one

edit:

okay for any9one that wasn't watching or couldn't decipher it:
Your package name: in my case BrizzHairs.u
Your texture package: in my case BrizzHairs.utx

Apparently these two packages conflict or some nuts and cause you to get booted form every server you try to join (UTSecure or no). You have to name your .u package different from your texture package.

Patch has gone public. Working with custom xhairs after the patch. I patched & my xhairs are still working fine. If you want to see them in the Settings GUI, follow the above link & read carefully.
that is officially the most useful thread I have seen at INA. Good stuff. If you do try it, make sure your UT2004 directory subfolder has a name that differs from the name of the xhair pack. First time I tried it I had it the same and I couldn't connect to any servers.

I was right. Kel you should post your tutorial on a web page or here because I hat having to link all over the place to find it :p

Also include the fact that your packagename.u has to be different from yourcrosshairpack.utx :) I tested it last night and this was exactly the problem.

Also, multiple packs work together.

Somebody should make a simple program that does it all for you. Could even be done with a batch file (tho it'd be a lot better with a c++ program or something and I'm sure something like this wouldn't be all that hard)

Eh, I mentioned at the end of it if anyone wants to take that and clean it up they can go right ahead
I threw all that together in a rush and it's not all that clear.
So if anyone wants to clean it up, toss it up somewhere(hell, even put it up here on the BU site) they can go right ahead(as long as I get mentioned as original poster) :p
