With IWNET matchmaking, it takes all that into account for you. All you have to do is select the playlist (pre-set gametypes with custom rules) that fits the style of play you are in the mood for. When you do, it will automatically find you a game with the best performance, ping, and preferences based on your location and individual connection as well as matching you with players of your same SKILL. So you’re always guaranteed the best game performance for where you are and what connection you’re playing on as well as an equal game with other players of your same skill level, not rank, but skill level. It doesn’t mean you’ll just be thrown into a random game! It will put you in the game that will give you the smoothest gameplay possible without you having to manually find a server with the best ping.
Cool story bro. You still better give us the normal server browser so we don't have to go through 5 screens just to find out what the ping is to the server.

edit: LAWL
It’s also the most feature-rich PC version we’ve ever made. IWNET takes the benefits of dedicated servers and allows them to be utilized and accessed by every player, out of the box, while removing the barrier to entry for players unaware of how to maintain a server on their own.
Where did the benefit of less lag go? And for players unaware of how to maintain a server, that's what server companies are for.

My friend told me today that we need at least 160,000 signatures....
Is he serious or are we close to shoving the petition in IW's face?

I signed it anyway, for general entertainment and religious obligation.

While signing the petition is pretty much usless, I signed it anyway as there is a .0000000000001 chance it may help. That is how much I care about my dedicated sarvarz.

Ok I have read and re-read that article numerous times and the only thing I can see that is bad is that one persons ping will bring down the entire match. But couldn't you just kick them?

Then you can start a Private Match (which is essentially like running your own private server) where you have complete control over the rules, who can join, boot players you don’t want, and essentially control the entire game or tweak it to your liking

So pretty much kick the person who is downloading porn, and I would assume the same goes for public games, and connections should return to normal? This might be an issue if say I wanted to play a game with Kal, since his ping is roughly 100ms more than mine I would probably be lagging all over the place

Please let me know if I am missing something here.

Well your point holds water if it's such a blatant situation but what's if the offending player is not a noticeable lagger. What if it's only gradual? What if it's a number of players each with not an awful connection, just not a very good one. You then spend half the game theorising about which player it really is that's bringing down the whole game and who you might have kicked mistakenly even though their ping was OK.
I think in practice it's, well... impractical.

Also to host a game well with 16+ players you not only need a pretty flawless connection with a ton of up-speed but you need a suitable PC to match, I would guess.

Also with voting systems as they are now, people rarely even get around to kicking cheaters let alone rooting out someone with a slightly dodgy ping and then getting how ever many players to kick exactly that one dude.
Alone that during a course of a game you have many people join and leave which again makes the whole process laborious.

And what does that mean for people with less than stellar connections? What's with players with only moderately powered PCs? (at the moment it means they experience a less fluid game but it never affects the other players on a dedi server - not so on a listen server)
They don't get to play a decent game anymore?
Me hosting a game is out of the question. Me playing p2p games sort of works but it's usually pretty crap. I don't have a problem playing on dedicated servers though.

To me that's the biggest point of the whole server debacle and not having dedi servers will probably result in the mess I fear in.

I personally should thank Infinity Ward for saving me 60.00

My clan mates are so mad about this...we had a dedicated server pre-ordered...Now were all canceling our pre-orders for the game.

This is the biggest load of BS...all the stuff there saying all crap...I watch my kids play on xbox live and the crap that goes on in that...I wouldn't want anything to do with it!

somewhere; sometime?
the original Op Flashpoint had a much better multiplayer community that (for me) made the experience way more enjoyable than what I find with mainstream titles like CoD and GoW.

personally, I think it makes CoD look like a pile of baby vomit.

but it's not going to be the same for everyone.
OFP is such a realistic game that most people just find it frustrating.

The reason I was asking is because OF2 uses P2P for the multiplayer, not dedicated servers.

A friend of mine is not getting OFP because he says its less realistic than ARMAII 0_o.

It is less realistic (if you are talking about OFP2-DR that is, and not the origional OFP), it's also not made by the same people as the origional, ARMAII however is, so that's hardly a suprice.

The reason I was asking is because OF2 uses P2P for the multiplayer, not dedicated servers.

From what i hear, OFP2 lags quite badly online, the term "Lag-fest" is one i've heard oft mentioned.
